Now this is interesting. Question: Where in quran or hadith can these steps be found? Other than the mention of Muhammad saying to eat dates, this sounds like suggestions someone made up. Christianity has no such suggestion on what to eat to ward off magic. To go along with this, is it islamicly taught that a muslim can become demon possessed? And if so, what is done to cast out the demon?
Shamms
salam Shamms, I gather from your question that u r looking for the proof in Quran that human beings can become victims of witchcraft and thus under the influence of demons.
Quran say:
"They followed what the devils gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Solomon. Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut, but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of " (Quran 2:102). This Ayah stands as a comprehensive explanation of how human beings came in touch with knowledge of magic. It also refers to the effect mankind may suffer which could extend to the separation between a man and his wife. Please note that the Ayah explains that magic dates back to even before Prophet Soliman (the timing is not exactly specified in an indication that it dates back to old ages).
Thus #1: Magic is a temptation and a knowledge that has been introduced to mankind long time ago. We are not exactly sure when.
But just as Quran contained the warning, it also contained the remedy, in other positions Allah Explained what magic may cause such as:
"They would surely say: "[/b]. Nay, we are a people bewitched."
(Quran 15:15)
"And even if We had sent down unto you (O Muhammad) a Message written on paper so that they could touch it with their hands, the disbelievers would have said: "This is nothing but obvious magic!" (Quran 6:7).
And this is the most famous magic ever:
"He [Moses] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic." (Quran 6:116)
To be brief, I only brought those examples to present how magic can affect human beings.
But at the same time, Allah brought the remedy as in:
"Say: "I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak,
2.
"From the evil of what He has created;
3.
"And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away).
4.
"And from the evil of the witchcrafts when they blow in the knots,"
Insh aAllah I will add more
