Actually, I want to clarify something. We are using the term of 'beating the wife' when in fact Muslims are not allowed to beat the wife. If she keeps being disobediant after the first warning, and then the separation of the bed, the hesband can repremand her physically. He is not allowed to hit her face, and the hit should not even leave a mark. The point is to make a snap back to reality as one might hit a small child who misbehaves to show this is unacceptable behavior. I hope that is clear for you.
