Definition of Islam

Bismillah:

Quote:All the above definitions of Islam are the linguistic definitions of Islam. Was the word Islam was used before revelation i.e. used by the Arabs before the advent of Islam? As muslims we have to abide by the Shariah and have to define words in accordance to the Shariah.

The Shariah definition of Islam is:

That what was revealed by Allah SWT to his Messenger (saw) via Jibraeel (as) to address the relationship between man and his creator, man and himself, man and society.

I will give you the daleel (evidence) for this soon Inshallah.

The Qur'an informed us that Prophet Jesus PBUH was a Muslim (Qur'an 3:52)

It is also mentioned in chapter 3:67 that Prophet Abraham was not a Jew or a Christian, but was a Muslim.

Only the name i.e the term Islam was used first time when the Qur'an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad pbuh simply because Surrender, Submission, Obedience, Sincerity & Purity of Intention, AND PEACE in ARABIC means Islam and Prophet Muhammad pbuh was an Arab., but the same religion was there since time immemorial.

Salam

Wael.
