All the above definitions of Islam are the linguistic definitions of Islam. Was the word Islam was used before revelation i.e. used by the Arabs before the advent of Islam? As muslims we have to abide by the Shariah and have to define words in accordance to the Shariah.
The Shariah definition of Islam is:
That what was revealed by Allah SWT to his Messenger (saw) via Jibraeel (as) to address the relationship between man and his creator, man and himself, man and society.
