You say that it is the duty of muslims to boycott American products because the USA has troops in Afghanistan. But perhaps you don't realize that many other countries have troops in Afghanistan, too.

There are, for example, over 2200 Canadian combat troops currently stationed in Afghanistan. In fact, the vast majority of these troops are from my home town of Edmonton, Alberta.

Edmonton based military units which are currently deployed in Afghanistan include: the 1st Canadian Mechanized Brigade, the 1st General Support Battalion, the 1st Service Battalion, the 1st Combat Engineer Regiment, the 1st Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, the 1st Field Ambulance, and the 408th Tactical Helicopter Squadron. These troops are in Afghanistan to capture and kill members of the Taliban. So, if being against the taliban is a crime, then it is a crime that Canada is certainly guilty of.

Since deploying in February, Canadian casualties have included 8 killed in combat, 25 wounded in combat, and 13 injured in non-combat related accidents. But I assure you that the casualties Canadians have inflicted upon the taliban have been many times greater than that.

Canadian soldiers are in Afghanistan as part of a NATO force known as ISAF (International Security Assistance Force). NATO countries which currently have soldiers stationed in Afghanistan include:

Albania

Austria

Azerbaijan

Belgium

Bulgaria

Canada

Croatia

Czech Republic

Denmark

Estonia

Finland

France

Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*

Germany

Greece

Hungary

Iceland

Ireland

Italy

Latvia

Lithuania

Luxembourg

Netherlands

New Zealand

Norway

Poland

Portugal

Romania

Slovakia

Slovenia

Spain

Sweden

Switzerland

Turkey

United Kingdom

United States of America

So, if Muslims are boycotting American products because the USA has troops stationed in Afghanistan, then obviously Muslims must also boycott the products from the above 35 other countries, too. And please note that three of the countries on the above list (Turkey, Albania, and Azerbaijan) are countries with Muslim majorities.

I assume I need not explain to any of you how unspeakably evil the Taliban are? No rational person would defend the actions of the Taliban. All decent Muslims should be pleased and appreciative that NATO soldiers are fighting and dying to protect the Afghan people from the Taliban.
