Does the Qur'an promote violence to spread Islam?

That is the what many who oppose Islam say. Verses such as: Qur'an 9:5 "Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem." Give credence to what they say. What does the Qur'an say about violence and about commiting violent acts towards unbelievers? |
