Christians believe that all humans have an eternal soul. A human's physical body may die, but the essence of the human (the soul) continues to exist "somewhere else".
Likewise, when Christ's physical body died, his "essence" continued to exist elsewhere. At no time did Jesus "cease to exist". So, there never was a three day period of time when there were only two parts to The Trinity.
