Why did Mohammed have different marriage rules than other believers?

In what sense exactly do u see that he had different marriage rules?

Unless I am reading wrong, it appears that that the law written here is directed for the Prophet so that he doesn't get "embarrassment." It then goes on to say, "Her forfeiting of the dowry only applies to the prophet and not to other believers. It seems that "other believers" are excluded from this law.


Also, from a historical approach, is it not true that Mohammed had more than 4 wives? Is it lawful for other believers to have more than four wives?
