‘May Allah bless and make fortunate that man who hears a hadeeth from us (i.e., from the Prophet (saw)) and then he conveys that hadeeth just as he heard it, for there are many who will receive the hadeeth after him who are more preserving and understanding of the hadeeth than the one who heard it himself the first time.’ [Tirmidhi]
On Friday 10th March 2006, Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq will begin commentary of 'The Book of the Two Eids' from the Abridged Saheeh al-Bukhari (al Tajrid al Sarih) insha'Allah. The previous book, 'The Book of Fear' was completed on Friday 3rd March 2006.
The first hadeeth of this book for which Shaykh will provide a detailed commentary and begin Lesson 121 is below:
‘Narrated Aisha (Radiy-Allahu ‘an-ha): Allah's messenger (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) came to my house while two girls were singing beside me the songs of Buath (a story about the war between the two tribes of the Ansar, the Khazraj and the Aus, before Islam). The Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) lay down and turned his face to the other side. Then Abu Bakr (Radiy-Allahu ‘an-hu) came and spoke to me harshly saying, "Musical instruments of Satan near the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) ?" Allah's Apostle (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) turned his face towards him and said, "Leave them." When Abu Bakr became inattentive, I signalled to those girls to go out and they left' [Hadeeth 527, al Tajrid al Sarih]*
About al Tajrid al Sarih
For the first time ever in the English language, Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq delivers serialised and detailed commentaries on al Tajrid al Sarih, the abridged Saheeh al Bukhari, which is a comprehensive coverage of the blessed Sunnah of the greatest benefactor of mankind. By the grace of Allah we have this great and unique opportunity to study the words and actions of the Prophet (saw) in the established and traditional manner as preserved and conveyed by the Predecessors through an unbroken and authentic chain of narration under the tutorage of Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq. This respected scholar is the chief teacher of hadeeth at Madinatul Uloom al Islamiyah (Islamic Institution) in Kidderminster, UK. (for a full profile of the Shaykh, click here ). Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh Ul Haq has delivered many lessons on Saheeh al Bukhari previously, many of which are available download for free on our website.
Saheeh al Bukhari which is widely regarded as being the most authentic book after the Book of Allah. The Saheeh of Imam Bukhari, comprising of approximately 4,400 different narrations, selected from an original collection of 600,000 and is considered the pinnacle of the science of hadeeth. Each hadeeth will be covered at length and an explanation given of the great wisdom behind how and why it was selected for inclusion in the Saheeh, along with its relevance to the chapter heading. Derived rulings as well as the context and circumstances surrounding the individual hadeeth will also be discussed. Most importantly, lessons will be drawn that aid the listener to practically implement the words of the Prophet (saw) in his or her life.
Who was Imam Bukhari?
Imam Muhammad bin Ismaeel al Bukhari (194-254 Hijri) was born in Bukhara, modern day Uzbekistan. He saw a dream in his youth in which he was fanning the air and removing the dust and flies whilst seated in front of the noble Prophet (saw). This was an early indication of the glorious future Allah had planned for him. Upon interpretation, he was told that he would be instrumental in removing falsehood from the ahadeeth of the noble Prophet (saw). He is undoubtedly the greatest ever Imam of hadeeth with over 90,000 students who have studied the Jami al Saheeh directly from him and over 130 commentaries of his work having been completed.
We request that you come yourselves and bring others also to learn the words of the Holy Prophet (saw). Saheeh al Bukhari is usually taught to those studying in Islamic Institutions in their final year of study, but Alhamdulillah we are getting this opportunity without any effort on our part. In the past the Great Scholars of hadeeth used to travel for hundreds of miles for the sake of one hadeeth and yet we are getting this opportunity without all this hard work and effort. Let us not let this great opportunity go to waste. The Prophet (saw) has said: ‘Whosoever guides towards a goodness, will get virtues equal to the one who performs that goodness.’ [Muslim]
