Rushing through prayer

When the leader of a prayer rushes very quickly through the prayer, is the prayer accepted? For example: If you have just said 'Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem.....' and the leader is already saying 'Allahu akbar' to go into raku before you could ever possibly say al-Fatiah is this valid? And should you then redo the prayer? I am asking on behalf of another.
