Sixth Sense

Audhoobillahi min ash-shaytaan ir-rajeem

Bismillahir rahmaanir raheem

Assalaamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuhu

I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytaan the accursed. In the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful. May peace, mercy and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon all of you.

I believe "the sixth sense" is the nafs, the fitrah, that gut feeling that we all have. It is the way by which Allah communicates to us. Shaitan can control the five senses, but our sixth sense is safe in Allah's Hands. Sometimes it is what keeps us away from evil, and bad things. And if you do anything bad, you get this really guilty feeling, and you just hate yourself, and yes, I mean HATE! What is that feeling and where is it coming from? It is your Sixth sense, and it is from Allah.

Someone somewhere is praying to Him to guide you, and He does. He never leaves you even though you try to leave Him. He Loves you and love generates a reciprocal response from hearts that fear... Yet, even fear is His Blessing... Everything is! It is happens that we all believe Allah is always with us, but only in our moments of purity do we really "feel" Him with us... like Him being close enough, and we "feel" His Love and Care, and how He keeps Blessing us, and how we are always ungrateful, but He still Loves us. SubhanAllah! He is the Most Merciful!

Most of us take even love as just a word. We infer it by our minds. We draw conclusions. We try to measure love. We take it as a chemical reaction or something logical. Love is beyond the boundaries of inference. The true love is deeper. Something that can only be "felt". Something that has no logic.

This kind of love "feeling" is marvellous. Most of us "think" Allah Loves us. Some of us "feel" Allah Loves us. And THAT is the insight... That is the sixth sense.

On those who believe and work deeds of righteousness will (Allah) the Most Gracious Bestow Love. (Qur'an 19:96)

It was the love Prophet Ibrahim (AS) had for Allah that made him jump into the fire without seeking any logic. If it had been his brain guiding him, he would still be standing at the pit side wondering what to do. Love made him trust his Lord to the point where no logic could possibly misguide him.

If it was logic that was the ruler, how could 313 mujaahids ever dare to fight 1000 well prepared warriors in the Battle of Badr? If it was logic to guide Hazrat Yousuf (AS) away from Zulekha, how could he possibly have escaped locked doors? Love for the Lord is what can make you believe ANYTHING is possible.

So, to love Allah you need to get above logic. Your logic takes you to the stars... and sky is the limit. But for love, sky is the start, and there onwards, you need a heart to guide you. Something like... "love is blind"... Only love for the Lord can be and should be blind.

Moses said, "O my people! If you do (really) believe in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allah's Will)" (Qur'an 10:84)

So, trust is a MUST, and you can't trust without love. Total trust can only come as a result of true love for Allah. It may sound strange, but sometimes you get those weird insightful moments, where you can see beyond what your eyes see. We need something more than eyes to know the truth. They say seeing is believing... but eyes can deceive. That is why a lot of our Faith is with things we can't see, including angels, Jannah, Jahannam, The Day of Judgement and of course, Allah (swt) Himself.

I know this is probably not making sense... well, it is not meant to... It is supposed to be FELT, and I hope you are feeling it the way I want you to.

Sometimes you may have some insightful experiences... like you may day-dream something, and then it happens in exactly the same way. Or sometimes you get those "waves" from other people, and you "know" what they are thinking. Or you develop a relation with Allah where you would pray and make a dua, and you instantly "feel" that your dua has been accepted... sometimes even before you utter the words of the dua.

These "instincts"... These strangest possible experiences... These "special moments" with Allah (swt)... These "visions"... THESE are the sixth sense... These are the Firasah... And they are all a Mercy from Allah (swt)... and they are a result of our love for Him.

Always repent to Allah (swt) and seek His Mercy, because repentance evokes love. It polishes Faith. Always Think, and reflect. Think about everything. Think about how a rose unfolds petal after petal to reveal the core... Never does it bloom in one go. Similarly we can't have the whole "truth" at once. Nothing comes "all of a sudden". That inshaAllah will sharpen your sixth sense, and turn on the lights for you to see, and turn on the senses for you to "feel". And soon your sixth sense becomes your FIRST sense, which ALWAYS shows you to the Siraat al-mustaqeem, the "Path of those who have earned Allah's favour"... and not the "path of those who have earned His Anger or gone astray".

And Don't forget... FEAR Allah. Fear ONLY Allah. Keep your trust in Allah. And be confident that He will guide you. Surely, no one can misguide the one who Allah Guides. So, thank Allah for guiding you, and showing you the Straight Path. And remember Him in every step, every minute, every second. He has blessed you with Wisdom. Trust His Wisdom. Trust that He won't let you stray. He has blessed you with the choices and the chances to spread The Light. But don't forget that He WILL Test you.

And We have sent down to you the Book (this Qur'an) in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Mohayminan (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures). So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may test you in what He has given you; so strive as in a race in good deeds. The return of you (all) is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ. (Qur'an 5:48)

JazaakumAllah Khairan for reading, and for your time and patience. Everything good and correct in this piece is (originally) from Allah, while anything incorrect or bad in it is from myself and from Shaitaan. May Allah forgive me if I have said anything incorrect, and as He is my Witness, my intention is not to harm anyone but just to help my fellow Brothers and sisters. May Allah accept it from me as a form of Ibaadah carried out to seek nothing but His Pleasure. Ameen.
