I agree with SisterJennifer. Forget about October. October is boring. Think Ramadhan! Now that is MUCH more interesting.
How I understand it is... the last 5 ODD-NUMBERED nights. There are always 15 odd-numbered nights, and 14 or 15 even-numbered nights.
Also, the night comes before the day. So for example, the evening when you sight the moon is the first night of Ramadhan, and the following day is the first day of Ramadhan, which is your first day of fasting. Thsi is because the Islamic day starts at Maghrib, rather than at midnight. This of it this way... Islam is always at least a few hours AHEAD of everyone else! So, the 21st night of Ramadhan will be after the Iftar of the 20th fast, which will inshAllah be on 23rd October (here comes the useless October again!) for those who started fasting on the 4th of October this year, or on the 24th October for those who started fasting on the 5th of October. After that its every other night till the end of Ramdhan inshAllah.
