Hi Malik,
Actually the Bible does not specify at all how many wives a husband may take. You can still find some Christian sects such as the mormons to this day who have multiple wives. I read about one mormon man about a month ago in Salt Lake City who has 14 wives! The Bible never really laid down the limits or guidelines for this aspect of life.
The final guidelines came through the Quran and by the example of Prophet Muhammad who set the standard for [u:459dd1b595]both[/u:459dd1b595] a monogamous marriage; and after the death of his first wife of 15 years, set the standard for a polygamous marriage.
Many Prophets, as AhmedSyed pointed out, had more than one wife. Among them are Moses, Abraham, and Noah, and Jacob. I only say this reminder because sometimes people think only Prophet Muhammad had more than one.
By the way I wanted to tell you my Grandmother once visited Holland when I was a little girl. She brought me back a pair of beautiful wooden shoes. She said it was very beautiful in your country.
