Bismillah
as salam alykom
As for this part of the Ayah:
setting place of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of black muddy (or hot) water.
I would use hot water spring. The meaning is so clear. As u posted it is just a precise and clear description of the place and shape the sun setts. Sobhan Allah.
BTW Radiyah this Ayah has been a subject of debate for a long time, but only from those who are striving to fabricate falsehood accusations against Quran.
Any non Arabic speaker would certainly understand that this is a type of metaphorism or symbolism. English language so is other languages has this type of eloquence. Quran being the top, no I d safely say the sole source of eloquence, is expected to contain such phrases.
If someone deliberately explains it as a scientific mistake, this is there own problem.
Radiyah, dont expect reepi to simply believe that Quran contains amazing and astounding exact descriptions of many other things, such as Yajouj and Majouj who are expected to appear on the end of time. He wouldnt easily accept that. Otherwise, he would embrace Islam.
Also I dont think he really means to mock you or anyone else. But rather when he is free of argument, but still unable to believe, he likes to make his denial sounds more louder for himself to be convinced.
Just give him this execuse Radiyah.
