Jazakum Allah khairan Rock and Radiyah
Actually I fully agree with what Rock typed, when the Quran say something, we dont need to verify it.
As Radiya gave you full explanation from Tafseer Quran, which is actually a miracle on its own. That the Quran mentioned an incident that most jews are not aware of. BTW Radiyah and Rock, many of the modern Jews are not aware of this. I did talk to a number of Jews regarding this point.
However, just to complete this subject, just as Radiyah explained the matter from and Islamic perspective. But before I add to my brothers and sisters work, let me tell you reepi that actually this Ayah i quoted is a miracle in Quran. You said you never came accross anyone or anythin in scripture that proves this:
Allah Say:
"And the Jews say: "Ezra is the son of Allah," and the Christians say: "the Messiah is the son of Allah." That is a saying from their mouths. They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old. Allah's Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!" (Quran 9:30)
As you clearly see, the Ayah states that this is what they say by their mouths meaning that this was not contained in their books. Matter of fact, as you will read in the article, this stands as a miracle in the Quran to introduce unkown facts about Jews which were known only to a group of certain people in Yemen.
For more info on this point, from a jewish viewpoint :

The article contains paragraphs from Encyclopaedia Judaica
Enjoy yourself verifying as for us, we as Rock said, didnt need to do so, however, was a good excercise.
