Anya I was the one who asked for the source of the hadeeth, but r u sure this is where u got the hadeeth from?
because I double checked the one talking about the NIGRO slave of dinar.
And this is what I got:
"Volume 4, Book 52, Number 137:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "Let the slave of Dinar and Dirham of Quantify and Khamisa (i.e. money and luxurious clothes) perish for he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased!"
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, " Let the slave of Dinar and Dirham, of Quantify and Khamisa perish as he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased. Let such a person perish and relapse, and if he is pierced with a thorn, let him not find anyone to take it out for him. Paradise is for him who holds the reins of his horse to strive in Allah's Cause, with his hair unkempt and feet covered with dust: if he is appointed in the vanguard, he is perfectly satisfied with his post of guarding, and if he is appointed in the rearward, he accepts his post with satisfaction; (he is so simple and unambiguous that) if he asks for permission he is not permitted, and if he intercedes, his intercession is not accepted." which agrees with what naseeha posted.

Now I was not going to make a personal reply to u, since the real aim on the thread is to cover the points u raised for the benefit of all, but then made much thinking and supplication to Allah.
I wonder why u r calling the replies on the board rigid and depressing? is it because it didnt conform to your findings? Sobhan Allah, sorry for this but this is illogic. Didnt u see that one of the Ayahs is even quoted wrongly? is this rigid and depressing?
Is it because u found out that items u brought are not correct? except for the raisin head hadeeth which my sisters already explained and Insh aAllah I have more to say about?
If u r not satistisifed with the replies or does not make sense to u I will simply quote u on another thread agreeing with Dan for being frustrated with members who dont understand the point and insist on their position.
Of course Allah Does not punish for genuine questions, but when the questions are already answered clearly, then it is up to the person to accept or just keep standing on his/her position.
Again as for the point u raised regarding Muslim soldiers being allowed to have .. with the war captives. Also pls go back to your own in depth post on the thread so that we dont go off topic. I think u covered the reasons well enough.
