Allah's Description Of Those Who Ascribe A Son
#29

Quote:ronniv, your only problem with Quran and desire to prove it faulty is that it calls Jesus as just a Prophet and Messenger and admits Mohamed as the final Prophet of the only One True God.

Muslimah, I just wanted to respond to this statement. It's not completely accurate, so I just didn't bother to respond. But as I read over it again, I decided I *would* respond; I don't want my silence on the matter to imply that I agree with this statement.

1) "Desire" to prove Quran faulty.

- Truly, when I first started studying Islam and the Quran, that was my ultimate goal. Figure out what the book said and what was wrong with it, so I could rip it apart.

- But you know what happened? I started meeting Muslims and a number of them were so nice and sweet and truly sincere in their beliefs that I began to feel bad. I mean, how could I be so rough in my dealings with people I had come to be friends with.

- Then, I started reading the Quran JUST for what it said, not looking for points to tear it down.

- To sum up the next several months to 1 year of that study, I've come to certain conclusions about the Quran. It is not up to me to "prove the Quran faulty." You have to feel and be sure of what you believe, as do I. Very likely, nothing I say could EVER sway you or any other Muslim here. Thus, that is a fruitless goal for me to try to reach.

- Mainly, there are things that aren't clear, don't make sense, seem conflictory or contradictory, etc., etc., so I seek to understand how MUSLIMS reconcile all these things together.

2) Problem with Quran calling Jesus just a prophet

- That's the least of my concerns, at this point. Of course I don't agree that that's all He is, but that is not the ONLY thing I take issue with. In fact, if one was to look through all my posts, it's doubtful that you'll find me arguing about this point too often, if at all.

3) Problem with Quran admitting Muhammad as the final prophet.

- I have serious doubts about the authenticy of his prophethood claim, true. But I don't even spend much time on this topic.

- I've seen people all over the place argue about why they don't believe Muhammad to be a prophet including, even, very ugly things said about him. So, I've been through all the arguments for and against him being a prophet.

- Again, though, I've spent little time at all, thus far, challenging that. Not that it's not an issue, but there's all kinds of information out there on this topic - both for and against.

- My interest is in asking questions that I've not found answers to anywhere else.
