Quote:As far as the Jews are concerning, their faith meant believing in the Tawraat (original Torah) and following the way of Moosa (peace be upon him) until ‘Eesa came, after which whoever continued to follow the Torah and the way of Moosa, and did not leave this and follow ‘Eesa, was doomed. As far as the Christians are concerned, their faith meant believing in the Injeel (original Gospel) and following the laws of ‘Eesa;
People like this should probably stop trying to explain or interpret the Bible, because it's all wrong. No one was "doomed" as he says. There were several prophets AFTER Moses. No one stopped following or believing in Moses' writings just because another prophet came after that. That's why the Jews have not only the Torah but the rest of hte prophets' writings as well. Same with Christians.
You don't throw away the Word of God from prophets before.
But to get off the Bible and back to Quran, what is the purpose of this verse? According to Muslim beliefs, there was no "original" (so-called) Torah or Gospel at the time of Muhammad. According to Muslims, they were both lost centuries before. So, Islamically-speaking, it was impossible that anyone was a "true" Jew or Christian at the time of Muhammad.
So was this verse supposed to help Muslims understand what happened to the so-called "original" Christians and Jews who lived centuries and centuries before??
Admittedly confused here....
