Jazakallahu khayran. Yes i remember the early emails from the Christians, it was only until i looked into things from myself that i discovered al of the links to contain lies. I actually bought a book about Slavery and Islam before i was Muslim by a South African Christian i think, and even though it was a little harsh with Islam, it did admit that Islam around the time of the Prophet ended slavery. It was only long after the Prophets death that it reared it's ugly head again amongst the Arabs.

But yes African history was very much my feild before Islam, still is now but Islam is obviously what i'm on right now as i have so much to learn. But yes i have done much research on slavery and Indeed it was not only Christians with the plantation trade as many imply. it was also pre Islamic Arabs and elsewhere it's very deep.

Whenever i feel bad about this in General i just think of the verse in the Qur'an which shuts down any comments about Islam is about slave trading etc...where Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) says it is not correct for a Prophet to just take captives unless there is war. Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) also says after that "<b>Allah is all mighty</b>" in the same verse. A clear warning. So storming into a land and taking the people is clearly forbidden unless it's them instigating war against Islam, this is clear. I can't find the exact verse now but i know i'm not far off. besides the idea of taking families and people captive for slavery is so directly against Qur'an and the teachings without this verse anyway, it's just a complete opposite.

Not just this but the hundreds of Hadith after saying about slaves. How he who frees one is freed from hellfire. And slaves must be taught. A mistake i used to make was just think it was only Black people as slaves, obviously as i researched this more i know this was not the case, especially with Islam. And it was captives of war as opposed to slaves as most Black people think of them.

When i used to think of slavery before i researched i had the 400 years of plantation slavery in my head which is the same as the pre Islamic slavery practised by the Arabs. Sure after The Prophet (Peace be upon him) some ignored Qur'an we know this, but if they follow Qur'an to the letter then they should have stopped the practice. This must have been what Malcolm X seen, as the brother embraced after he left the madness of the Nation Of Islam, and he was more pro black than anyone [Image: biggrin.gif]

Very good read sister. Jazakallahu khayran.
