Quote:Funny. I feel it's just the other way around. I would say, "Muslims are fed and taught hatred towards the West and Christians."
Guess we all have our different perspectives.
I really don't know much about this at all, since not being raised Muslim I don't know how or what Muslims are taught.
But I will say ronni's impression is not far off the mark, although I wouldn't say Muslims are fed and taught hatred towards the west and Christians, however in muslim countries I think they view america as embodying lots of what Islam is against, such as fornication (hence the infamous "infidel"), money, as in collecting interest, and just all around bad morals.
That would be more directed to the west, not necessarily to Christians, since Christians have some of the same values as far as I am aware. It just so happens that america is a majority of Christians, so that kind of sticks with them. Just like terrorism sticks with Muslims.
Also, in underdeveloped countries I think they view america as abusing their power, because america does have so much power and wealth, and like it or not most americans are kind of arrogant about that.
Just my view, like I said I don't know what's really going on... but definitely it is a cultural thing that people are taught, as far as learning the religion, we are taught to have nothing but respect for the people of the book, i.e. Jews and Christians. As I've said before in a different thread, the Qur'an says that Christians are the closest to Muslims out of all the religions on the earth.
