The New American Quran: A Dangerous Trick
#10

SubhanAllah I have not heard of this book until now, it is really amazing that people try this.

First of all, I am struck by the fact that it "states jihad is haram." Is that verbatim from the book? Does it says JIHAD IS HARAM? or forbidden, or whatever they might call it in the book?

Because if it says simply that "jihad is haram" then the author is obviously an idiot, even without having read anything else in the book... he's an idiot. Because he is implying that jihad means "holy war," or in other words, killing for the cause of Allah. That is what most americans believe jihad means, when actually it just means any kind of struggle or difficulty one goes through to attain a noble goal.

For a poor community to build a hospital, that is a jihad. For a new convert to learn to pray in arabic, that is jihad. Would this book imply that those things are haram? No, of course not. People have trials throughout the world, from big to small, all of which could be considered jihad (in the correct definition), and many times they are unavoidable. So to say that enduring an unavoidable trial in one's life is haram, that is just silly silly silly..... ridiculous. It's like saying it's haram to use the bathroom, it's just part of life.

Another thing I am struck by is the fact that he used real ayat's from the Qur'an in his new book. The Qur'an says that there will be people who try to copy the Qur'an but they cannot ever match the quality of the Qur'an, not even close.

Christians may say he was intending to take up that challenge and failed, as an excuse for the book.

I say, whether or not he intended to take that challenge, doesnt matter, because he has in fact

MADE A NEW QUR'AN

And you know what the best part is??

In his "qur'an", he went so far as to include real ayat's, trying to make it seem as authentic as possible in the hopes of convincing muslims.

But.........

Look at anya's post, all the negative reactions to the book, how it is so transparent, people are reading it and immediately realizing it is a ridiculous book.

How many times have you heard of someone reading the true Qur'an from beginning to end and immediately realizing it is ridiculous?

Never. I've never heard of that happening. Sure, some people will take individual ayat's and purposely interpret them wrong just to try to sabotage Islam, but as far as anyone seriously reading the Qur'an straight through, I've never heard of anyone saying that it is blatantly stupid. (in fact, i've heard many times people say that it is not far off from the teachings of christianity, that is peace and humanity)

And with this new book, there's no waiting, people recognize its stupidity right away.

That alone says something to me, subhanAllah.

I guess I'm not too worried about this book... Anyone who has a decent understanding of Islam would recognize it for what it is (stupid), even the non muslims that anya read reviews from.

The fact that it is being distributed secretly (?) to children in schools is disgusting, and further emphasizes the fact that the author knows he's full of it, and could only even have a chance of being bought by young children who may not know any better. How low can you get.

SubhanAllah.... Allah protects his Qur'an, and in it he says whoever Allah guides, no one can lead astray. So nice try, but nobody can really compete with that, can they?
