I am here to clarify one matter to u. The relation between Allah and the Creation differ according to what we want to be to Him.
Sine one of Allah's Attributes is Al Ghany (One Who is Free of all needs), therefore He certainly Does not need us, or even our worship. We worship Allah because we need to. We need to talk to Allah thru the 5 daily prayers which makes one think more than once before committing a sin, to fast in order to feel grateful for the provison plus more. I dont intend to push much info here, since u already know much.
But as for the word servant versus children. The word in Arabic is a`bad. Matter of fact, if one of us chooses to attain this level in interacting with Allah, he/she is hoping for the best. Now what does the word Abd exactly mean? It means slave. A literal translation is slave. But let us compare between a slave to a man verus that with Allah.
A salve of a man is bought by money, owned by the master, the master benefits from the work done by the slave. Therefore the slave is seen as an asset to the master that returns to the master certain benefits. On the other hand the slave does benefit nothing, he is not paid in return for his work, only provided food and shelter and sometimes even abused if the master is a cruel one.
Now look at our relation with Allah, Allah Does not benefit anything from our deeds, even if we endure difficulty, or incure any financial responsibility, the impact benefits no one but the person per se. Allah Does not Benefit not in any way. When we strive to attain the level of being servant to Allah, we strive to be actually free not enslaved to anyone/ thing. Thus u r physically free but only abiding by Allah's rules. I know I was brief here. But for the purpose not to push info on u.
