Culture, Religion And Generation Gap
#3

Quote:Theirs was an example of a natural adjustment that was fully informed by Islamic teachings; it did not damage the underlying values. And it tremendously enriched the new societies.

Have to be careful here with this natural adjustment. As long as the Qur'an and the Sunnah is followed 100% than it should end there in my eyes. No cultural 'Adjustments' or changes. This is part of the appeal of Islam to me. Submission to Gods Will...not mans self made cultures etc. You either follow this or not in my eyes, this is one important unifying factor of Islam. I know of many people having to marry a certain person because of this persons family status and not being allowed ot marry outside of a Caste etc, yet they claim they are Muslims. Where does it tell them to do this in the Qur'an or where has the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said these things. We should stick to the Qur'an and the Sunnah in matter like this, and it should end there. I don't like the idea of a Natural Adjustment in Islam. Theres many non Hijab wearing muslim girls in society here in the UK who would claim to be 100% Muslim but because of Natrual Adjustment to society they now don't need to wear it.
