I am not here to apologize on behalf of any one, but to talk to u. If u r here to learn about Islam, then just focus on this. If u started your journey of search, then dont let anyone put u off. Just dont bother about people's ideas, if u doing this for Allah u get rewarded. The Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam was called a magician and mad. Just focus on your goal and try to fulfill it.


This is my peace of advice to u, although I dont see myself fit for advice. And of course u other places to go to, u may still go and learn. Take in mind that a board of dicussion brings together different types of people. U may be exposed to them. Dont let this put u off.
