Bismillah
Praise be to Allah Lord of the worlds, King of the kings One Who Erected the skies without pillars that are seen to us, may Allah Inspire me with the proper wordings on this issue, Allahum sallai a`la Mohamed, his household and companions.
“And those of you who die and leave behind wives should bequeath for their wives a year's maintenance and residence without turning them out, but if they (wives) leave, there is no sin on you for that which they do of themselves, provided it is honourable (e.g. lawful marriage). And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. [The order of this Verse has been cancelled * And for divorced women, maintenance (should be provided) on reasonable (scale). This is a duty on muttaqun (the pious).* Thus Allah makes clear His Ayat (Laws) to you, in order that you may understand.* Did you (O Muhammad ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ) not think of those who went forth from their homes in thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die". And then He restored them to life. Truly, Allah is full of Bounty to mankind, but most men thank not.* And fight in the Way of Allah and know that Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.* Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan (technically speaking from a financial stand this term goodly loan will be soft loan) so that He may multiply it to him many times? And it is Allah that decreases or increases (your provisions), and unto Him you shall return.” (Quran 2: 240 – 245).
Sobhan Allah, just look at the sequence of Ayahs, mind u that they are preceded with another set regulating divorce matters including the payment of alimony. Revolving around payment matters in many ways including the fight in the name of Allah, since exposing oneself for death in the name of Allah counts as payment of course of the soul. Allah SAW Is never negligent of the tinniest matters. To this effect Allah Ended this part with an extremely touching way of encouragement. No not only encouragement but an incomparable motivation. When u think of all this that Allah Is calling a loan to Allah. Just keep in mind that all what u own is originally Allah’s. Yet in a very touching manner Allah calls what we spend in His way as lending Him a loan. La ilaha ila Allah.
Just keep in mind as well that this Ayah was not brought here haphazardly. But rather in a very relevant position. It was a preparation for another set of Ayahs dealing also with many different ways of spending money as we highlighted above. Allah Meant to mentally prepare the reader to receive the financial related commands with a view of making them as a loan to Allah. Allah u Akbar. Yes there are several other Ayahs that separate the two positions, still not haphazard. No Allah brought this concept here, then took the reader along the Ayahs of Beni Israel, Tlout and other Ayahs that also include the fighting in order to stress the fact that all what we do is much taken in consideration by Allah as a loan.
We can come to the conclusion then that Allah Looks at whatever we do in His Name, whatever, not only the physical monetary expenditure, as a loan which shall be paid back to us on the Day After. And Who Is going to pay us back Allah.
Alhamdulelah Who Guided us to his and if it was not for Him we wouldn’t have been guided, peace and prayer be on His Messenger Mohamed Ibn Abudllah.
