Quote:Peace Shaunee,
Well if u re read Anya's post u will understand a lot, as well as Dan's Jennifer's. I am not sure where did your Egyptian friend bring this info from. What the members wanted to convey to u, is that dont delay your faith declaration if u truly believe about it, dont worry, just do it and Allah Shall arrange the best. But as far as if u can continue being married to the man, as far as I know, a Muslim woman can not be married to a non Muslim. U may confirm this from a scholar. But I know this for fact. What the members wanted to tell u is that Allah Can Arrange miracles. Beside the most important is never to compare Allah with human beings for what u r looking for is your final destination.

I had to bring this to your attention Shanuee and if u did pronounce shahada well congratulation sister

I'm not saying that the law was changed... yes it's true... that's why I was even bringing the subject up... however.... there have been Muslim women marrying non-Muslims.... especially here in the West.... and I suppose that a bunch of scholars got to discussing this matter, and in the process came up the discussion of being Muslim first, and then getting married, and then the issue of the revert, who is already married....

If I was born a Muslim.... then me being married to a Catholic right now would be just horrid.

On the other hand.... I have gone into this marriage as a Christian... and now I want to revert..... so here it's a bit of a different circumstance... and a growing problem today as well. There is without a doubt hadith.... where a women goes to or is brought to Mohammed, and she is told by the prophet that she should divorce. She agreed.... there was other hadith (not sure if it's a "weak" one though.. where someone's spouse later reverted.

So.... during this council.... (I'll have to get details and post it)... this issue of intereligious(sp) comes up.... women who are married Christians ALL OVER the WORLD.... are asking why they cannot revert, and why must they tear up a family... so...... what was given to them was time to convert their husbands.... but no one knows how long this could take. No one knows when a person would die. But what we do know is... that the percentage of reverts of men, after their wives worked on them was high.

There are no exceptions made really in Islam... but sometimes the application of laws have been somewhat "delayed"..... for instance a new revert not wearing the hijab immediately after saying shahada.... some people need time to adjust.... however, not forgeting what is mandatory.

I'll leave this as it is for now..... and I'll be sure to check back here with more info on the subject.... I will either get this from my friend... or go searching myself.
