A Common Problem I Notice Alot Lately.....

Thank you.... I have to say... the people in this group are the easiest people to talk to! Everyone has been so much more understanding than others that I've conversed with.


I know my posts got to be rather redundant after a while... but I just had to ask. About a week ago.... in another Muslim forum.. there was a woman who sooo wanted to be a Muslim.... and she was upset because she was told the same thing I was... so I felt really bad for her.


Over a year ago, I was in her position... so I just gave up thinking about being a Muslim...... because it just seemed impossible to do. So I stopped thinking about it... I stopped reading and studying about Islam. I even made my Catholic sacraments of Holy Communion, Pennance and Reconciliation, and Confirmation just this year. But when I read her post..... I suppose it brought back memories.... so I just gave the subject one more run for it's money. A totally different response indeed.


I've been talking with a friend in Egypt... he's been sending me info, i.e. Ahmed Deedat's lectures and books.... and articles to read about the faith here and there. We were chatting this morning, and he confirmed everything that I've read here. He even told me about a council that met on the subject and that there are scholars that say women who are married can revert to Islam, but only given the fact that the women remains in the marriage for purposes of dawa...... and that she does not practice the Christian religion... attend the services... (unlike Yasser Arrafat's wife )


So..... I said my Shahada privately.... during conversation with my friend this morning.... but I suppose I would have to make it official one day. Which leads me to another question.....


Is it absolutely necessary to say it with two witnesses, or with iman in order to make it official.... what if for instance.... someone says it privately.... but never officially.... does it matter?
