Really, Rehmat?? We know each other from five different Muslim web sites??? That's interesting! Which one's, I wonder? I don't think I'm active in FIVE DIFFERENT MUSLIM SITES, but hey.... some of these things are so easy to refute, I probably do it in my sleep.
Hey Anyabwile,
Hope you're doing well.
Quote:The fact that some Christians accept and read this but you don't Ronnie still doesnt make them wrong in their eyes,
The problem or question is not about whether I read anything or not; I just don't know what Rehmat is talking about. There were some particular points made that simply are not in the Bible that *I'VE* ever seen (i.e., the Bible calling King David a "pervert"). I asked the person who made this comment to show me where. Only then can I make a comment about it. It's the same with several other things they said: The claims were made but the verses/scriptures simply don't support the statements made.
Yes, I do have a problem with that.
Now, if they SHOWED me exactly where, then maybe I'd have to admit it.... explain it.... look into it, etc. But right now, the most I've seen are false statements and accusations. Wouldn't you be upset if someone came here saying, "The Quran says that women are evil" or "The Quran says men are better than women" and posting chapter and verse after it, yet you KNOW that's not what the text says or means? Would you not feel an obligation to correct what you thought/felt was incorrect?
That's all I'm doing.
Yes, I'm here asking questions about Islam, but if people are making false statements about the faith that I have right now, I feel obligated to say something.
Quote:It's like the original questions i were asking you, who is following the correct path?
Okay, well that's why I research, study and pray asking for guidance and direction. See, with the apocryphal documents that some people have quoted from, I KNOW why they were added by the Catholics. They thought it was considered inspired scripture by the Jews, but it wasn't. I know these things because I look for the answers.
Quote:It's a shame the debate you've been having here hasn't lifted to more friendly discussion.
Good point. Well, why don't we try to make this more friendly, shall we?
Quote:Why would you wish to associate yourself even near to anything like this?
It depends on what you're referring to.
Now, if I REALLY believed what the original poster said about the Bible, then yeah... that's a good question. I mean, who WOULD want to follow a faith like that. But I DON'T accept or believe what Rehmat has claimed about the Bible, so then, for me.... I don't see the problem.
Quote:If God is who you seek, he is there waiting. And i'm sure you know it's not in corrupted books.
Hmmm.... Well, I don't feel that I'm "seeking" God as if I've never known Him, talked to Him or had Him speak to me. I've experienced and continue to experience that close fellowhship with Him.
Now, I desire to know Him even more intimately, yes.
And I don't believe the Bible is corrupted so the second statement is not an issue for me. TRUST ME, I've heard all the claims and attacks on the Bible and I truly studied each one of them one-by-one. I've studied how the manuscripts were made, copied, transmitted, translated into other languages, what type of people were involved in the translations, how many manucripts exist, how they all agree, etc., etc., etc. After all of that, I actually trust what the Bible teaches more than before when I *hadn't* heard all the claims of corruption.
Quote:I hope this discussion ends nicely however.
As do I.
