By Ramadan of 1425 U have 2000 $ saved from any source.


By Ramadan 1426 u only have $ 1500 left.


2.5% is required to be given out of this $ 1500.


By Ramadan 1426 Allah Sent u more and now you have 2500 $.


2.5% out of the 2500 $ is to be given out


Or


By Ramadan 1426 u only had $ 1000


Out of the $ 1000 2.5% is still required to be out.


and so on


As for your monthly salary. U r only obliged to give out in case u managed to save an amount that was not used for one whole year out of this salary.


So in other words, unless u have money saved that u dont use for one whole year u r not obliged for Zaka the fard. however of course u r encouraged to give sadaqa which have many merits firs of which it distinguishes the anger of Allah.
