All of this is bull anyway. It all comes down to money.... be it lira, dollars, euros, or pesos... It doesn't matter. Bush is not solely to blame. It is partly because of the US government, but more importantly Big Business. If this war is about oil, we are fighting it for political/financial reasons. It's no different than they way OPEC controls their resources and holds other contries 'hostage' for money etc... Somehow, the line 'in the sand' that divides all of us as people has been misconstrued as a religious one. I consider people from all creeds my brethren. I was raised a catholic and found problems with that, so I don't practice any more. Does that make me a bad person? Probably not.
I don't think that anyone wants to see more death throughout this whole thing. It is just becoming a revenge for revenge for revenge thing. What is the point of disembodying a person that is in Iraq to help the people there??? It serves no purpose other than perpetuating the violence. Yes, Afghanistan was retribution for the attack on 9/11. Like it or not, it is fact. Additionally, the Taliban was a notoriously oppressive government. Those people weren't living 'in peace' under their rule. They were living in dire poverty, with little hope for a future. Don't make it out like Iraq and Afghanistan were wonderful places where muslims lived peacefully prior to us going there. What about all of the atrocities Saddam committed on his own people? Remember the Kurds?
If you want peace, and I want peace, why can't we reach some agreement? Is it because of religion... or politics,... or maybe.. $$$? These wars are our fathers' and grandfathers'. I believe and hope that through open mindedness and globalization, we can achieve peace in the future. Our generation is not our fathers'. The bigotry, hatred, jealousy, and violence needs to go.
