As far as the trinity in other Christian faiths, I'd believe the priest who told you. I only know about Catholicism basically. I know some about other branches, but not a whole lot. If he says that Anglicans, Episcopalians, Orthodox, or whatever believe in the trinity, they probably do.
As for the sin thing. Sin is the most confusing part of Catholicism/Christianity. Really, I can't explain that to you. Ask a priest or a bishop, they could tell you. -
I think we much agree on that the doctrine of trinity is commonly spread among different branches within Christianity.
As you also wrote somewhere in an earlier comment, that the Bible is written by men. There are much written about that subject so we dont have to disagree on what we agree on.
There was an article to read, yes it is many years ago, but the statement is still interesting to take part in. And for me, it is a clear sign to that also many Christians believe, but at the same time DONT BELIEVE the doctrines in Christianity. Surely that may also be one of the reasons WHY many leave Christianity. True belief comes also from what the heart believes and not only by doing lip-service. Please dont take offense, just trying to explain.

LONDON: More than half of England’s Anglican bishops say Christians are not obliged to believe that Jesus Christ was God, according to a survey published today.
The poll of 31 of England’s 39 bishops shows that many of them think that Christ’s miracles, the virgin birth and the resurrection might not have happened exactly as described in the Bible.
Only 11 of the bishops insisted that Christians must regard Christ as both God and man, while 19 said it was sufficient to regard Jesus as “God’s supreme agent”. One declined to give a definite opinion.
The poll was carried out by London Weekend Television’s weekly religion show, Credo.

Yes, as a Muslimah I agree with you that the sin issue within Christianity is very confusing. I have asked several priests and they just state the existing belief, I have not so far though found a satisfying EXPLANAITION to believe in it.
