Should You Place Your Hands On The Ground Before..
#1

As salamu aleykum wr wb

I was just wondering should you place your hands on the ground before ur knees when you are making sajjdah? I read 2 different answers but dont know which one is right.

1-"He used to place his hands on the ground before his knees."82

He used to instruct likewise, saying, When one of you performs sajdah, he

should not kneel like a camel, but should place his hands before his knees.83

( from the book "The Prophet's Prayer sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam from the beginning to the end as though you see it by: Shaikh Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaani ")

2-We should place our hands on our knees, nealing down.

(from the site www.islam.com and other Islamic sites)

Are these from different schools (Maliki, Shafi', ect)? Cause if yes then I would make a lot of sense. And if soo, may you informe me of which one is from the school of Shafi'i? (i'm somalian and we somali follow Shafi'i)

Wa alaykom al-salam wa rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh sister

When u make sajda there is only one way sister in all mathhab, u fall down to the floor with your forehead hands and knees. That is prostrating.

Quote:2-We should place our hands on our knees, nealing down.

This u do it before prostrating, this is when u kneel down when u say : Subhan Rabiya Al-A'theem 3 times.

For not confusing yourself here is a link to Islamway, showing how to perform salat according to sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz, U will find it under prayer category:

As-salaam Alikum,

When preforming sujood, your knees goes down 1st, then your hands, then your head, and the opposite way when coming up.

If you want to know how the Prophet (SAAWS) used to do everything, and you can read Arabic, then read Zad Al-Meaad by Ibn Al-Qayim.

Let me know if you want the link to read some of his books along with other books for Ibn Taimiah, but only in Arabic.

As Salam alaikum

Shaykh Al-Albani in "The Prophet's Prayer Desrcibed" (based on authentic ahadeeth) said that one should put your hands upon the ground first. Make Istikharah and go with what Allah Guides you towards.
