I don't wish to even  go further than this right now - I'm not sure what to make of how much of this conflicts with islamic teachings.

Phat let me take this chance and tell u something, although it may sound off topic.

If u r looking to learn about Islam, Islam is the following:

1. To bear witness that Allah is One, just One, with no partners or associates, does not include more that One part, has no wife, was not begotten, nether he begot no one.

2. Allah sent numerous Messengers and Prophets starting Adam ending with Mohamed (Peace and prayer be upon all of them) and including Jesus, to call for Islam and not for any other religion.

3. To do this, Allah revealed a number of books to his Messengers including teachings to people.

4. Througout time, people deviated from the correct path, including a corruption of the holy books.

5. You will ask why not the Quran? Allah (Sobhanhu wa Ta`ala) Knew ahead that this will happen, allowed it to happen, for people not to have an argument of o we didnt know this, He let the corruption happen, warned people against so that they dont repeat it, they repeated it, Allah still is patient and wanting to help them, He sends again, until He sent Mohamed (PAPBH) with the Quran, protected the Quran, so that this will be the final chance for mankind.

6. People are free to believe as such or not, they are free to live their life according to what they wish or according to what Allah Wishes.

7. Probably they will enjoy their so called freedom, but then we can not blame Allah, He told us ahead everything, so if we dont comply we can only blame ourselves.

This is what Islam is all about, it is to fully submit to Allah, surrender to His Will, accept His rules and regulations, not make our own.

I tried to help, just focus on these points if u want to learn about Islam.

I thought the point would be self explanatory. I don't have anything to 'pick' Muslimah. I simply do not understand the conflicting messages I seem to get on this board.

At one hand, I find it highly fascinating to learn about your religion and lifestyle. I like knowing what muslims really think and knowing what is true or not in my country's media.

However, I find it HIGHLY ironic that so often America is chastised for being so violent, and Islam is held to be peaceful and understanding. Then I see a smilie holding two guns to look "cool" (nice sunglasses I guess?). I don't how this can show any self expression that is inline with Islam.

For the rest of your post - I appreciate it, as I do all of your teachings you have given me on Islam.

As long as you r here to learn about Islam, on another thread u referred to an Ayah as double standard.

See phat I am not mad at u for saying that, u know why? because u simply still believe that Islam is not the ONLY religion in the eyes of Allah, based on this: saying that Allah called for Christianity, then (astaghfer Allah) changed His mind and called for Islam, then got even harder by making Islam the ONLY accepted religion to Him. I would understand why u take this as double standard.

But the issue Phat is that Islam has been, was and will continue to be the ONLY religion in the eyes of Allah.

And it is only logical

But u still can not accept this fact, I also understand how u feel about it. This is the main point, if u can not accept this, u will never understand our position. Just exactly I will never understand American position for example on accepting gays in the society.

I dont want to hijack the thread or go off topic, if u want we can continue on a new thread, what do u say????

As I said on my previous post, your main problem is not accepting this fact that Islam is the ONLY accepted religion and I gave an example of Americans accepting gays, not only this, but also instilling the idea of anti discrimination in dealing with them.

As far as I know, it is unlawful in bible to lean towards homosexuality.

However, and last I like to do, u've been long enough to observe this, is to bring the flaws in the Bible.

I heard a story, from reliable sources, not in the Internet, about a Christian family living in the US and wishing to move back home (Egypt). The father told my relative that his daughter was giving an assignment at school to compose an essay on her opinion about homosexuality.

Being a devout Christian, of course and a teen, she wrote against it according to the Bible. To her surprise and shock, her teacher was very upset with her on how she expresses anti sentiments against a certain group of people who are not mentioned badly in the bible.

Even worse, to the father's shock, the teacher referred him to a number of book stores to go and check the bible in. He did, he found modified versions of the bible (versions yes with an S), in some of them homosexuality was legalized.

Now, look at the Christian's postion, to me as a Muslim this is not acceptable at all. Same thing with u, u can not accept certain issues, because u r not accept the base.

So work on the base, search about the points I gave u, from there Insh a Allah we can move.

It sounds as if you think being a good Muslim is tantamount to being a prude. :confused: Do you think that anyone and everyone who plays Doom or Halo is a bloodthirsty fanatic, or is it possible that they don't support horrible violence <i>in real life</i> but can be amused by it in play?

Well, for the fact that they have nothing to do with Islam, and I have been expressely asked not to post links or topics that aren't related to Islam.

It just strikes me as odd- the same smiley would be out of place on any religious board in my opinion - except one that wishes to convey it's message through...well guns.
