how do u want to see islammessage board
#1

as salam alykom

In this thread I want u all members to give us feed back on how u want to see this board, what do u want out of it? in other words, this board is yours more than us, of course primarily it is Allah's.

So any ideas are welcome. like if we can launch a project, set a goal to help new muslims in a more practical manner?? any ideas are welcome.

let us all together set a mission statement with goals and obejectives...

come on brothers and sisters

Asalamalaykum Muslimah

I haven't really contributed much in this site, so do I even have a say? [Image: smile.gif], All I've been doing lately is lurk around.

uhm I think we should have the "arabic smiles" they're so nice:)

Like subhanaAllah, Alhamdulilah, InshaAllah, Asalamalaykum, walaykuma salam warah matulahi wabarakatu , FeeAmanaAllah, Bismilah, astaqfuruAllah etc....

This is the site that has them all

http://www.forumpk.com/misc.php?action=showsmilies

Just scroll down the page and you'll see the arabic

Thats my 2 cents!

Walaykuma salam.

as salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

hmmmmm....

I think that islammessage is well done, from our discussions, i think it has grown alot in the past years...

Alhamdulillah, i think that the good thing about this board is that it is approached by the moderators with much more hikmah than the other boards that i have been to...

now let me give my views on the question

the thread is entitled:<i>how to do u want to see islammessage</i>

in your post you said:

Quote:In this thread I want u all members to give us feed back on how u want to see this board
these are two different questions...

the first (i.e. the thread starter) is general asking about islammessage as a whole and

the second is specific to this discussion forum...

wa lillahil hamd.... [Image: smile.gif]

anyways...

to the first question i have no suggestions... quite frankly i think you are doing and excellent job and i commend you as such for that as well as the dedication that i have seen... maybe our sites can even "partner up"

to the second question about the board specifically... i too have no suggestions because of the same reasons

<b>HOWEVER</b>

I have a suggestion for that deals with the actual dataflow and presentation of the board <b>in relation to the site as a whole</b>

personally when i come to the site as a member i see the board as being seperate from the actual site...

the site itself www.islamsms.com has so much great information such as <i>the translation of bayhaqui's works (he he)</i>

i see that the board itself (i.e. www.islamsms.com/bb/index.php ) as has a banner above that links to the main site... ( www.islamsms.com)

i also see that the actual islammessage homepage doesnt have a link to the board... if it does have any links then it is very hard to come by... visitors have to actually know that you have a discussion board and they will search the home page for the link to it... the only thing that links the home page to the forum is the links to the <b>individual posts NOT the forum index page</b>

after drawing your attention to these things let me give my contribution...

i suggest that you have more dataflow between the site itself as well as the board so that members such as my self wouldnt see the site and the board as being two seperate entities (in essence) maybe you could put a good link on the home page that could capture the visitors eyes

maybe you could also put a link somewhere in the discussion forum that sends the visitors straight to you articles....

for instance... in the topic "islam" you could put a link somewhere to articles that deals with topics of islamic fiqh...

and

in th topic "new muslims" maybe you can put links to the articles that would be relevant to them etc...

there are many other ways to increase this dataflow that i speak of... just sit and brainstorm and alot would come out...

i hope you understand the direction that i am coming from... and i am fully confident that the owners of this site can be successul in this insha allah..

i really hope that my suggestion helped i tried my best to go in to as much detail as possible....

ma' salaamah

oh yeah... here is a suggestion.... put a banner to www.naseeha.com on your home page <i>HEHEHEHHEHEHEHE Jus kiddin with you muslimah hehe</i>[Image: smile.gif]

Alsalam 'alaykom:)

Can I as a moderator make suggestions as well [Image: biggrin.gif]

How about u being as a translator, translate some of the arabic posts we put in this forum, some are really very usefull for non arabic speaking members and guests, I wanted to translate some myself, hehehe, but I am really very busy:D, maybe I will in the future.

Oh yes, u know I just came up with a thought, how about a section for children in this forum, do u think it is a good Idea, we could put some Islamic educational posts for them, stories of the prophet, stories about children in Islam and so on, and they can contribute as well, what do u think?

Wasalam 'alaykom wa rahmat Allah wa barakatuh.

Asalam~O~Alykum

I have an idea. Why don’t we have different sections in the Arabic section like we have for the English b/c we have a lot of threads in the Arabic section and some of it doesn't relate to each other. Let me give u an example.

We can have:

1) News sections (in Arabic)

2) Woman and family section (in Arabic)

3) Ad3yah section (in Arabic)

4) General section (in Arabic)

This is the only thing that I think we can add to islammessageboard. Other than that the board is really good.

as salam alykom masriahmuslimah

I know u suggested this long time ago. Well see the board is orignially in english. we created an arabic section just for native speakers to chit chat. Also the main page have an all Arabic forum.

So I think we may just keep it as is, and visitors do benefit from the threads being posted there.

I have a proposal and I really need your feedback on it:

1. To pick a topic every month and do a study and research on it as much as possible.

2. Form teams to work on the topic.

3. We come back and post our findings.

4. We try to be focused and support the findings of course with Quran and hadeeth.

5. Members can then pass the findings to other egroups or forums they are members on. Even each member may use the outcome in his./her given local community.

objectives:

* Is to make optimal use of the various skills available among us.

* By dedicating your skill to Allah u actually pay zakat for your knowledge granted by Allah.

* Allow us all means to serve Allah in an organized manner not just visiting a place where we may vent.

* Apply Islamic rules specially during discussions inlcuding to pull out of argument on time.

* Help our non Muslims guests to gain proper knowledge.

The outcome:

a. Insh a Allah, We will have sort of archived knowledge.

b. Insh a Allah this will be a current sadaqa for each of us that will keep generating rewards after our death.

c. We will help others learn, leave alone we will of course learn when we focus seriously.

d. We will be using our time on the Internet and outside of it in a better and more organized way.

e. The forum Insha Allah will serve as a real circle of knowledge.

any more input is highly appreciated.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

qustion of which answers will help us improve:

1. Do u prefer that we merge similar threads to facilitate finding topics, or u prefer threads to be short?

N.B sorry if this was not properly written, I felt I need to share it and get the feedback.
