"Enemies of Allah"

I have a question that has been bothering me for some time.

In many publications I read that non-Muslims are deemed the "enemies of Allah". Is this true? Are we non-Muslims really considered to be enemies of God?

Those quotes from the Qu'ran posted by "WarriorofChrist" are quite scary.

What place do these quotes have in the modern life of a Muslim?

If the Qu'ran itsself is specifically saying such things, why would they apply *only* to Fundamentalist Muslims? Why would they not apply to regular Muslims?

"9:29, Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

Does this mean you must fight us Christians? (People of the Book)

"3:28, Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah

Does this mean Muslims cannot have Christian friends?

Are these verses applicable today? Please help me understand. I am very confused.

Michelle.. we are commanded to FINGHT IN THE WAY OF ALLAH AGAINST THOSE WHO FIGHT AGAINST US.. means if anyone come to fight and trying to Kill or to take us away from our faith. in this case only we have to defend our WAY OF LIFE (DEEN or RELIGION) in the Cause of God. in order to make his words the most HIGH.

i hope the following verse from the Holy Qur'an will clear this matter:

2:190- Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors.

Got it ?

Allah never allowed us to Kill Christians without rights.. but He asked us to invite them to the way of their Lord with wisdome.

16:125 - Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from his path, and who receive guidance.

well, the verses which you found them scary are also Mentioned in the BIBLE.. so that means the law of God is clear to everybody and not only to NON MUSLIMS.

THE BIBLE ALSO SAID THAT NON CHRISTIAN ARE CONSIDERED AS THE ENEMY OF GOD or the ANTI CHRIST, AND THE (CHRISTIANS) MUST PUT US INTO DEATH. is this not scary too ?

1 - A. L. M.

2 - This is the book; In it is guidance sure, without doubt To those Who Fear God;

3 - Who believe in the Unseen, Are steadfast in prayer And spend out of What We Have provided for them;

4 - And who believe in the Revelation Sent to thee, And sent before thy time, And (in their hearts) Have the assurance of the Hereafter.

5 - They are on (true) guidance, From their Lord, and it is These who will prosper.

whoever done these few simple steps. then they are not the enemy of Allah (God ALmight)

wel-mel you are right the old testament has all that, but there is something you should know.

Luke:9:54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

In the old testament sin was punishable by death, in the new testament God made a new covenant with men, Jesus came so the sinner can have life, The sinner can be forgiven of their sins.

the disciples wanted for Jesus to throw down fire like Elijah (Old Testament), Jesus said the Son of man did not come to DESTROY but to save.

Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

The Old Testament is filled with accounts of war. Many of these were okayed by God, if not commanded by Him. David was a man after God’s own heart, and yet he led the armies of Israel against the armies of many surrounding nations. His success was dependent upon his obedience to God.

Clearly David was acting in God’s will in routing the enemies of his day. But when it came time for someone to build a temple for the Lord, God declared that it could not be David because he had shed blood. This temple was to be prophetic of the coming Messiah, one who would be innocent and not shed blood. Jesus came upon a nation that was oppressed by another, yet He never lifted a finger against the oppressive Roman regime. His battle was greater. He battled against spiritual powers. He did not get distracted by fighting earthly battles.

We are no longer living under the Old Covenant of the law, because Jesus has perfectly fulfilled the law and become our righteousness. We now live under the New Covenant of grace. But where does war fit in under the new covenant? When someone hits us, do we turn the other cheek? Jesus did, and He told His followers to do the same.

I dont think I have anything to add on Wel_mel's here except the fact that Muslims can not take non Muslims as freinds.

For a simple reason, a freind is usually consulted in many issues, will u be giving me advice according to Islam teachings if I turn to u? Will u be admonishing me if for any reason I feel reluctant to perform one of the worships? will u be drawing my attention when I fail to compy with any rulings? I can go on. I dont think so. Not because u dont want good for me, but simply because this is not how u live.

So we can not take them freinds, but also we dont have to initiate enmity.

I might be able Insh aAllah to shed more light on this specific statement.

Now, if a firm employer hires a set of staff to work for him, they must express loyalty to the firm, in terms of not revealing patent secrets, bid specification or other. In case one of the staff members violates such rules and acts in a harmful manner to the firm, will he still be called a freind or enemy.

now as for the Creator, who granted us countless bounties, yet some simply do not worship Him, worship the One True Allah. They worship others, not only this but also they fight the true religion or those who call for it. Will these be called friends of Allah. Now pls, note which category, those who fight the true religion. Yet, people dont worship Allah, and still are provided through His bounties, He does not deprive them their rights in terms of food, air, water, whatever a human being needs to live on this earth. It is Allah's responsibilty. And Michelle, the day a non believer comes back to Allah and believes, is a very special day is the eyes of Allah. Allah gives a chance to the non believer to believe in Him the proper way Allah ordained not as we wish, until one faces last moments before death. So we are all treated equally in terms of means of living. But u can not equate one who strives hard to live for Allah with one who fights the path of Allah.

The fighting one is never a freinds, is he???

Warrior. what is the different between the old and the new law? do you believe in what Jesus said only ? i remember that he came to FULFILL the law and not to cancel it. therefor you still you have to follow the OLD LAW OF MOSES..

wel_mel we Christians no longer follow the law in the Old Testament. We believe that Christ fulfilled the old law and we entered into a new covenant with God that is found in the New Testament. Peace is preached there, not killing and war and conquest. (Thank God!)

If I recall, the verses I posted said, "Fight those who believe not in Allah" not "Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against us."

What place does vs 9:29 have in the life of Muslims today?

It says right in that verse to fight "the People of the Book". These "People of the Book" are Christians so the Qu'ran is saying to fight Christians. That is why I'm confused. Is Allah asking you to invite Christians to the way of the Lord with wisdom and also fight them at the same time?

Muslimah, if you cannot befriend a non-Muslim but at the same time you don't hate them...what exactly is the relationship of non-Muslims to Muslims? I'm confused. It's sad to think that Muslims and Christians cannot be friends.

Michelle, I think my post was clear enough, however, as I said before, due to the total difference of belief and rules that govern us and non believers, we can not take them as friends. A perosn is usually influenced by his peers, a woman seeking advice about a marital problem shall never get the proper one from a non muslism.

As for fighting again, how do u see the situation of Bosnian women for instance who were raped and tortured by the Serbs, or Philipino Muslims who were harshly abused, and and and, the list can go forever.

Why do u all look at the Quran saying it calls for fighting, while u totally overlook why should we.

Would u stand still, the Quran is out manual, it tells us every thing we must/ must not do in order to lead a good life and attain Allah's satisfaction Insh aAllah

So again, our relation with the non Muslims is to treat them nicely, they are people we know, we deal with. The Messenger of Allah (PAOBUH) dealt with them, he even made trade transactions with Jews. We call them for the way of Allah, without compulsion. I think u yourself is an ex. u ve been hear for quite sometimes asking and inquiring, we reply, without telling u when r u going to embrace Islam or else dont ask. No we dont do that.

But I can not pm u asking your advice on a prob, I can only do that with a Muslim woman.
