Dr. Zakir Naik on Muhammad In The Bible
#1

Found this video in a series about Dr. Zakir Naik's appearance on The Deen Show where he discusses the Islamic objection to the trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, and the Bible foretelling the coming of Muhammad. In the third video, a rebuttal is offered to Muhammad being found in the Bible. I thought it would be an interesting watch for this forum.

I tried to hold on till Wael might be able to watch it while in Hong Kong, because Mash a Allah he is quite versed in the Bible.

However, actually I came accross those versus long time ago, may be like 8 years.

I will not discuss the whole set of verses. Let me just focus on two versus here, and I am not trying to cut the set apart. Although, if you ask me personally, I m not into discussing how the final Messenger is referred to in many of the books of other religions.

But logically speaking and without any bias, just examine the verse using common sense.

Verses 14:16-17 refer to the paraclete who will be with the believers forever, true, the Messenge blessing and peace be upon him, although not with us presently and physically, but he is still with us "believers" through Quran which was revealed to him and his traditions which we are supposed to apply in our lives. And true the world can not see him, of course, after his death, although left us Quran and Sunnah, we can not see him.

Coming to verse 15:26 (Shamms you need to tell me, the text appearing on the slide, is it the full text and which bible he is using), I referred back to the Arabic version, compared it with King James version or copy whatever you call it, it reads as follows:

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

When you read the Arabic text, truly, you feel that the sentence needs paraprasing:

و متى جاء المعزي الذي سارسله انا اليكم من الاب روح الحق الذي من عند الاب ينبثق فهو يشهد لي

If you want a literal translation:

It goes like this:

When the comfortor whom I will send to you from the father the spirit of the truth who arises from the father, he shall testiry for me (and not of me) and no reference of even.

Certainly Mohammad salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam, so we, do testify that Eassa is the Messenger and Prophet of Allah.

The sentence is really confusing and not clear.

Wael, the video discusses the following set of verses from John:

This is debating the interpretation that the comforter in the Gospel of John as Mohammad salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam versus holy spirit.

John -14-16

John 13-17 is consistent whole providing final ministry of Jesus to his disciples.

John 14-17 is Trinitarian speaking easily of the divine roles of father, son and spirit.

Prayer to himself 14:14

Jesus speaks of another comforter as himself in John: 14-16.

John 14:16 says the parachute will be with believers forever.

The world can not receive the paraclet because it cannot see him or know him.14-17.

14:26

15:26

15:26 and 15:27

16:8

16:13

Shamms Insh a Allah I will go back to the thread I started which you thankfully complimented with versus from John to simply clarify who Jesus blessing and peace be upon him and his mother is.
