Muslims commanded to terrorize non-believers
#1

Found this article today, and the man in it makes an interesting statement. Since I do not speak arabic, I will leave it to those who do to say if the man's understanding of the Qur'an's interpretation is correct.

Outside a Manhattan mosque where the imam preaches against terrorism, the brothers of the "Revolution Muslim" are spreading a different message.

It's kinda strange that we should be somehow angered if they say the killing of US troops overseas is justified. Well, yeah, isnt that what happens in a war??? I dont think the troops were invited.

Also the title is misleading. "Muslims commanded to terrorize" but when you read the article it just talks about a couple of converts who stand on the street and rant. And even they have been asked to stop by the Masjid. Why not just look at things for what they are for a change?

Mind you the word in the Ayah subject to this thread could be also explained as deter.

SisJennifer, the title of this thread is a direct quote from the gentleman being interviewed. How is it misleading? You are correct in saying the killing of troops is what happens in a war....I have no problem with that. My question, which has not be answered by you or Muslimah, is; is the man correct in his understanding of Islam and the command to terrorize as he explained it?

My second question is, if he is correct, that the Qur'an does command to terrorize the disbelievers...who classifies as a disbeliever? The person who attacks the muslim first, or any unbeliever?

Let me be clear in stating I have no problem with a person, peoples, group or nation, defending them/itself if attacked. What I want to know is, is Islam clear on who is an enemy and who is not? And who, according to Islam is the enemy and how should the enemy be dealt with?

Quote:the title of this thread is a direct quote from the gentleman being interviewed. How is it misleading?

The misleading part here is the report itself, after the man has defined the term terrorism, the reporter said:

Quote:“it is that Jihadist version of Islam”

I am asking now, did the man mention anything related to Jihad in that report?

The reporter then started to lie, he said that:

Quote:“the attack of 9/11 was justified, and that the attack on almost any American is justified.”

The man clearly said that his idea of terrorizing the disbelievers

Quote:“doesn't mean to go and kill an innocent civilian”
.
And the proof for what he said to be true is that the reporter still alive. :D

He said that:

Quote:“terrorism is to make them fearful so that they can think twice before they go and rape your mother, kill your brother or go onto your lands and try to steal your resources”.

In other words, we too, Muslims and Christians should be terrorists against those anti social elements.

I only don't appreciate his way in expressing the idea, especially in that particular time where Islam is most misrepresented, misunderstood and twisted by the media as in the example of this report. The man was too angry which is something unislamic. We are commanded in the Qur'an to follow the Prophet Muhammad's PBUH footsteps, and he was soft and gentle when he speaks, and so we should too. Allah said to him in the Qur'an:

“...were you severe or harsh-hearted, they (the unbelievers) would have broken away from about you...” Qur'an 3:159

other questions maybe Sis Muslimah can answer insh a Allah, this is normally not my area :)

Wael, welcome back and may Allah Grant you success in whatever you do.

I did read the thread...all of it, and no, the thread did not address my questions.

My questions, which are still unanswered are; is the man correct in his understanding of Qur'an and the command to terrorize as he explained it?

My second question is, who classifies as a disbeliever? The person who attacks the muslim first, or any person not confessing a belief in al'ilah and Muhammad as his messenger?

Third, is the Qur'an clear on who is the enemy, who is not, and how this enemy should be dealt with?

Quote:is the man correct in his understanding of Qur'an and the command to terrorize as he explained it?

During wars, yes he was correct.

Allah says:

'Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steels of war, to strike terror into (the heart of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies.....' Qur'an 8:60

But if they show no enmity? Allah says:

'But if the enemy incline towards peace, do you (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah, for He is the One that hears and knows (all things). Qur'an 8:61

Quote:who classifies as a disbeliever? The person who attacks the muslim first, or any person not confessing a belief in al'ilah and Muhammad as his messenger?

I am not really clear about this question, sorry.

Quote:Third, is the Qur'an clear on who is the enemy, who is not, and how this enemy should be dealt with?

Yes of course.

We have got two enemies:

Satan is number one, and second is anyone who fight us on the account of our religion, In this case we may fight him back in self-defense. (references from the Qur'an are available on request insh a Allah).

I hope this answer your questions and i hope someone correct me if i was wrong.

Salam
