A despot by definition cannot be loved. You seem to be contradicting yourself. Khomeini according to Ms. Fallaci herself was loved "too much".

Khomeini was despot that quickly turned on the very people that helped get the islamic revolution going and killing them in their thousands. Students, communists, political opponents were all fair game for Khomeini. I'm sure you are aware if this Karbala and I am also sure you would be perfectly fine with it.

Your perspective on history is predictable, very shallow. It wasn't Khomeini who turned on certain people, it was certain people who turned on Khomeini. You see Iraq right now? It was even worse in Iran post revolution, bombs going off everywhere, Saddam just invaded, rebellion etc etc, if it wasnt for the firmness of Khomeini in dealing with treachery iran would be much like todays Iraq. People were tried fairly and justice was served.

Wrong! The executions are openly admitted, infact you can find references of them in books like "The Narrative of Awakening" which is a Government sanctioned book!

Unfortunately the author of this esteemed article shoots him/heself in the foot by providing the chronology of events, in which the executions happen AFTER the PMOI siding with Saddam.

Shortly before the executions commenced, Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini issued "a secret but extraordinary order - some suspect a formal fatwa." This set up "Special Commissions with instructions to execute members of People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran as moharebs (those who war against God) and leftists as mortads (apostates from Islam)." In part the letter read:


«از آنجا که منافقین خائن به هیچ وجه به اسلام معتقد نبوده و هر چه میگویند از روی حیله و نفاق آنهاست و به اقرار سران آنها از اسلام ارتداد پیدا کردهاند، با توجه به محارب بودن آنها و جنگ کلاسیک آنها در شمال و غرب و جنوب کشور با همکاریهای حزب بعث عراق و نیز جاسوسی آنها برای صدام علیه ملت مسلمان ما و با توجه به ارتباط آنان با استکبار جهانی و ضربات ناجوانمردانهٔ آنان از ابتدای تشکیل نظام جمهوری اسلامی تا کنون، کسانی که در زندانهای سراسر کشور بر سر موضع نفاق خود پافشاری کرده و میکنند، محارب و محکوم به اعدام میباشند.» (رضایی و سلیمی نمین، پاسداشت حقیقت:147)

One of the consequences of the killings was the resignation of Grand Ayatollah Hossein-Ali Montazeri as the heir-designate to Ayatollah Khomeini as Supreme Leader of Iran.

WRONG! Montazeri was dismissed by Khomeini, there was no resignation. THis is a famous incident in which khomeini wrote to parliament dismissing Montazeri as his successor.


There are many many many more inaccuracies in the article, I cant deal with them all since I have better things to do. Alll im saying JohnDoe is your understanding of history is very shallow and sensational. Admit it.

Nope Im not denying there were executions numbering in the thousands. But if you understood the circumustances of the time you can completely understand why it happened.


Non-muslims were never forced to flee their homes, thats just another figment of your imagination.
