Jospeph and Mary
#1

Bismillah: Assalamo Alikum.

This information is new to me and I just would like to share it with all of you, especially Christians.

Of course all of us know the Christians stand point regarding Muhammad pbuh and his marriage from Aishah RA at very young age, and so they accuse him pbuh of being <b>pedophile</b>. But subhan a Allah, <b>new information has come to light while reading the Catholic Encyclopedia </b> regarding the age of St Joseph whom they consider to be "<b>Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and foster-father of Our Lord Jesus Christ</b>"

While reading chapter St Joseph in the Catholic Encyclopedia, I found the following:

Quote:"When forty years of age, Joseph married a woman called Melcha or Escha by some, Salome by others; they lived forty-nine years together and had six children, two daughters and four sons, the youngest of whom was James (the Less, "the Lord's brother"). A year after his wife's death, as the priests announced through Judea that they wished to find in the tribe of Juda <b>a respectable man to espouse Mary, then twelve to fourteen years of age, Joseph, who was at the time ninety years old</b>,
went up to Jerusalem among the candidates; a miracle manifested the choice God had made of Joseph, and two years later the Annunciation took place."

The Catholic Encyclopedia. St Joseph.

I've also found it interesting that the Catholic Encyclopedia obtained this information <b>from the early Christian writing including the Apocrypha.</b>

The Catholic Encyclopedia. Apocrypha

The Catholic Encyclopedia says in conclusion

Quote:"...<b>retained the belief that St. Joseph was an old man at the time of marriage with the Mother of God." </b>

So if our Christian friends find no difficulties in accepting "their mother of god" who was <b>12 to 14 years</b>, marrying an <b>old man of 90 years </b> more than <b>2000 years ago</b>, why they should object the marriage of our beloved prophet Muhammad pbuh from Aishah which took place about 1400 ago?

Christians <i>(especially the Catholics)</i> have got 2 options now:

1- To desist from being so redecilous for abusing our beloved Prophet pbuh and admit their mistake. OR

2- To declare that St Joseph (<b>the husband of the mother of god</b>) is a <b>pedophile and child molester.</b>

Hopefully they will go for the first option insh a Allah.

Very good information Wael. Of course, to Muslims, we don't even need to know that there were others in history that married young to justify the actions of Mohammed (pbuh). Yet, this stuff is great as a comeback against ignorant Christians.

I wonder how many Christians know about this fact...

Jazakum Allah khairan Haji for the input, you summed it up and further clarified the point. Certainly we dont even believe that Joseph has anything to do with the birth of Eassa salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam. It is just for Christians or even agnostics, asthiests who have nothing to do but criticise without any logical ground to try and keep quite.

I would like to clarify some points insh a Allah.

Please note that Christians too don't believe that Joseph the carpenter has anything to do with Jesus' birth, they too believe that Jesus was born miraculously, although the concept differ (<b>they believe that the holy ghost came upon Mary to impregnate her, where we believe that Jesus was created by Allah's will "BE" and he was</b>). The fact is that we don't believe in Joseph the carpenter at all, <b>he have no place in the house of Islam. </b>

My post was just an example from <b>Non Muslim sources/Catholic source</b> where it shows that people thousands of years ago used to marry at that age, so there is no point for anyone to oppose the marriage of our beloved Muhammad pbuh from Aishah.

I hop this clarifies the intention behind my post. Insh a Allah.

Speaking of the Holy Ghost, I wish that someone woul make a post about this mysterious being.

Why do Christians regard the Holy Ghost as a part of God? Is there anything in the Bible that states that?

I wish that someone could collect everything about the Holy Ghost from the Bible and draw up a logical conclusion about what the Holy Ghost is and its significance.

Mate, you are as "unrealible" as the gnostic gospels that info is taken from.

I bet that if you revealed to your fellow brothers & sisters on the boards that you were the long awaited Mahdi, they'd believe you with no seconds thoughts.

Did anyone besides me even bother to click the link & challenge Wael's distorted version by reading the actual article? I doubt it!

In any case, I wouldn't even compare the marriage of the Blessed Virgin Mary & St Joseph to Mohammad (PBUH) & Aisha (RIP). The former lived a life of complete chastity together - no sexual relations. Their vocation was quite different from that of your prophet & his favourite wife.

Do Muslims acknowledge Maryam's perpetual virginity like Catholics do? Thanks in advance for the answer :)

Take care & God bless.

Like Catholics do since when? Honestly FHC, I feel sometimes you make up your own Catholisim and pass it around, unless the Catholics are alot more un-united than I thought. As far as we were taught, they always said it was quite possible Mary and Joseph HAD other children and possible Jesus had half sisters and brothers. ALthough they always made the point that it wasnt really important to faith weather they did or not. I never heard about perpetual verginity before.

I do agree with you on one point, these two things are not comparable in the first place.

I dont believe Mary and Joseph were married, but just our of curiosity, why would he be interested in marriage without children or intamacy? Even Prophets were desirous of Children, and he is not better or more righteous than a Prophet. Why marriage at all then?

That's a bit childish, not to mention rude.

Jazaki Allah Khairan for making this reply and reminder to FHC.

FHC, I need to alert you that in case you are unable to maintain a respectable attitude towards members, either Muslims or non muslims, Allah and also our beloved Messenger prayer and peace be upon him, I would have to say you need to take a break and re collect yourself. Pls note the manner you use while talking to others.

Jazakum Allahu khiran sisters Jennifer and Muslimah for defending me in my absence. :)

Quote:Mate, you are as "unrealible" as the gnostic gospels that info is taken from.

As I told you before, <b>talking sometimes means NOTHING at all</b>, and you love to talk... So you can say whatever you wanted to say, that would never prove that <b>YOUR CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA is unreliable. </b>

Quote:I bet that if you revealed to your fellow brothers & sisters on the boards that you were the long awaited Mahdi, they'd believe you with no seconds thoughts.

This is the way how Catholics or Christians in general behave when they face reality; I've seen that in person. So no harm on you FHC, <b>talk a little bit, maybe in talking you will feel better. </b> :)

Quote:Did anyone besides me even bother to click the link & challenge Wael's distorted version by reading the actual article? I doubt it!

<b>Did you even dare to challenge YOUR OWN people who wrote the Catholic Encyclopedia?</b> What nonsense are you talking about? I was only quoting the catholic Encyclopedia and <b>NOT</b> my own version. You don't have to challenge me FHC, <b>I AM NOT INTERESTED</b>. if you are in doubt of what was written by your own people, <b>then go and challenge them directly</b>, we don't even believe in Joseph the carpenter at all. so go and challenge your own people if you dare.
