as salam alykom hadith,

I understand what u mean? we should be Muslims, hold firmly to our Deen, even more firmly, stop trying to adapt, cope, or go with the waves, enjoin good and forbid evil, and always start with ourselves.

va alykom salam, bismillah. basically, you are telling me to be like ghandi, a peaceful protest by practicing our religion. does practicing religion stop them of killing and treating muslem like animals around the world, or at least in the eyes of some christian?

I'm glad you said "some" Christians. But at the same time, I don't think the current conflict in the Middle East is religious-based. It's more political. Majority of Christians are against it. I'm aware Muslims don't separate Religion from State but George Bush certainly does. He's not calling for a Holy War. The Muslims in America aren't being mis-treated. It's not Muslims vs Christians. Insh a Allah it never will be.

Gandhi conquered hate with love. Let's hope we have the strength to follow his example.

Pray for peace.

Boy... I am sure I just look argumentative...

BUT GB was quoted in TIME magazine (a few years back) as saying that he believes that he is doing God's will on Earth. Now whether or not he was saying that to politically solidify a position with the Christian right?... I dunno...

Haha! I don't know, Dan, you'll have to ask him about that. I can only report on behalf of the Church & I'm happy to announce that JP2 (RIP) was the first to come out & condemn the invasion of Iraq. Unfortunately, Rome has little if any influence on the Bush administration.

Please pray for peace.

God bless.

salam hadith, first off, I will never advice a muslim to copy footsteps of a non muslim when it comes to how to address our problems, nor in any other manner. I mean we have what suffices us to follow.

When I say hold firmly to our deen, who said that this means sitting peacefully and doing nothing, this statement holds a lot to do, I just invoke upon Allah that we can do it.

I was commneting on this: "Majority of Christians are against it. I'm aware Muslims don't separate Religion from State but George Bush certainly does."

"The Church is against any war."

??? That is brand new to me.... I was taught that justified wars (few as they may be) are permissible. What was the Cathlic Churches stance on WWII?

In any case... what makes GWB think he's doing God's will? What makes Islamic suicide bombers think they're doing Allah's (SWT) will? Whatever the motivation, it doesn't reflect true religious doctrine... I can only hope!

I don't mean to steal CC's limelight, but here's my two cents in...

Indeed, the Church's against waging any kind of attack on anyone. However, the magesterium has developed a "Just War" doctrine (not taught infallibly though) in which individuals & societies may defend themselves against aggressors. Under no circumstance is the intention to kill ever justified. There are very very very strict conditions applied to a just war. It's actually worth a read... http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P81.HTM - please start at paragraph 2307.

The Church condoned certain acts during WWII & condemned the abuses... likewise with the Crusades.

I hope I've been helpful :)

God bless.
