Separatism

Assalamu alaikum,

I am a new shahadah Alhamdullilah and in the short time as a muslimah, I have noticed and experienced the blatant degree of prejudice and racism displayed with the Middle Easterns against other Muslims. I must admit this type of treatment enraged and caused me some stress. I also have been told of a comment made by a sister stating, "I am so glad to get away from those Arabs!" O Allah! This is certainly ridiculous! Please if anyone has any positive feedback in reference how to deal with situations like this, please by all means, insha'Allah send me your input.

Jazakallah khair,

Jahmia Scott

Alsalam 'alaykom sister, and welcome to the board, and congratulations for your shahada.

Dear, most arabs are not practicing Islam, ignorant of their Deen, and are taking the bad habits of the west instead of taking the good ones. We do not say that the west is 100% corrupt, there are still conservative people in the west, knowledge and science we do not deny that, but most arabs and muslims need to return to The True Islam spread 1427 years ago. There are many teachings derived from Quran, one of them is Fiqh, very sadly many muslims dont know their relegion, and most non muslims take the surface meaning of the Ayah's, and do not understand that what those terrorists are doing is not from Islam. Human life is very precious in Islam, our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, told Ali ibn abi Talib, that if u invite a man to islam is better to u than shedding his blood, or a a whole cattle of camels. The exact hadeeth i do not remember now, i will dig it up for u or if my brothers and sisters will help. Now to convey my point that arabs are not practicing correct Islam, but now there is a wakening, young people are returning to Islam, scholars are trying to teach them that islam is not terrorising people or killing them, but to call them to islam in kind words, or even do not call, it is enough to show them the high morals of islam, and then it is up to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala to guide them. I am an arab, I am against terrorism, if there is to be jihad, it must be under one flag, and if the islamic ruler or khaleefa ordered it to be, and it must be army against army, and not army against defensless people, or innocent people. This is true islam. Once we abide by the islamic correct rules, wether arabs or non arabs, only then we will all be walking in the correct path, respecting each other, and not forcing our beleifs on any one.

Hope I helped, need more explanations do not hesitate sister, insha'Allah we will be here for you. :hello_kitty_sm_03:

Asalamalaikum Sis Jahmia

How are you sis? So sorry to hear about your experiences with Arab Muslims thats quite sad. I think I had similar experiences but only with Arabs who don't practise their Islam. There is also alot of cultural influences which is not an Islamic behaviour at all.

I remember one time a Sister I knew who was of european orin went to a mosque were some women told her that she can't be Muslim and not speak Arabic and that in order to be Muslim you have to speak Arabic and that reverts aren't real Muslims and the real Muslims are arabs. The sister stopped going to the mosque, I asked her to come and visit that mosque with me again and show me those women. So went there and I went to those women (I won't say the nationality) I said to them, do you admire and look upto Umar ibn al-khatab? They said yes ofcourse, and then I asked the same about Abu bakr and I kept continuing like that reaching all the sahabas that we know, and then I said to them well they were all reverts to Islam if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be Muslims today even you. Khadeeja was the first revert to Islam mashaAllah. Alhamdulilah I felt a bit shy to correct women who were older then my parents but I felt like If no one corrects them they'll keep on at it.

I also corrected them about the "You have to speak arabic or your not muslim" When the Quraan was revealed to prophet mohamed (saw) the arabs didn't really understand it because of the richnes and the uniqueness of the words of Allah.

Alhamdulilah last but not least I have some very good friends who are Arabs, MashaAllah very openminded Muslims who love all Muslims so much.

Racism is not acceptable in Islam the prophet (saw) fought it, and we won't accept it at this day and age inshaAllah. Just look at the status of Bilal in Islam subhanaAllah.

There are so many Muslims in this world...We even have russian and chechen Muslims B)

Hey! I'm white!

Let's not get into a racial face-smacking.............. it's un-Islamic, and aren't Muslims supposed to prove that.... by example?

Exactelly my point, how does an ARAB feel reading the original post, the same as you above after me generalizing

Yes it is Unislamic – the same as the behaviour of any Muslim that discriminates.

Why generalize and stereotype?

Im muslim, Im not Arab and I had bad treatment from some Arab people when I went for Hajj,

Black neighbourhoods in my city were barricaded from the white folks area with cement blocks .

The same as my parents were kicked out of their home at the hands of the British and Dutch , so should I now stereotype and classify all whites or european people in the same light , you get?

In Middle east where some may consider islam to be a religon for Arabs only or in the East where it is a religon for Pakis and Indonesians but if the have this superiority complex they are acting against and outside of islam

as salam alykom sister Jahmia

First off, pls allow me to welcome you to the board and say cogratulations for returning back to where u originally belonged.

Sister, the best method to deal with such situations, which may actually occur in mutliple circumstances, is just to focus on learning more and more about your new religion, strive to get closer to Allah, rather than being occupied with people. Matter of fact, yes we have to be a part of a large community, but dont let this community pull you back or down, dont get yourself into human /human problems and issues, you have a lot to learn. Just maintain a neutral, steady attitude towards all. Look what exactly Islam teaches and try to abide. People shall have something or the other to say any way. For example, if u r not married, they will inquire why, if u r married with no children, they will start talking about the blessing of having children, if u r attending regular Islamic circles, they will tell u there is a better one. When someone tells u that only Arabs are the real muslims, give them the example of Salman Elfaresi, Maria (the Prophet's wife), leave alone the hundreds of Tabe`en (successors) who lived during the era after the Messenger's death who were from different places of the world including Asia...

Humans are humans sister, focus on the teachings on the core of interest...

Alhamdulelah, you became a Muslim may Allah keep u fixed.
