Overload of information
#1

Bismillah

as salam alykom everyone,

As the blessed month of Ramadan is quickly gone by, here we are trying to keep our memories and re schedule ourselves.

How do you all think of the overload of information on the web? Really, i was discussing with a member on this board on something personal, and he made me realise this more. That i m not the only one who suffers this. And yesterday, as it is Eid custom, my family were hear for lunch, the same topic was raised. He said, we should seek knowledge sufficient for our needs not to over load ourselves.

Did you ever experinece this, sometimes, I sit on the net, and start working on something, but due to overload, I feel distracted and just detach and get off, did u even experience this?

But on the other hand, I do find it useful in many ways, like if I need to prepare something, Alhamdulelah i find that resources are handy which really cuts off time.

What do u all say??????

Can't say I have. The only problem I have is going off on a tangent. If I'm looking for something, I can be easily distracted and end up looking at something totally different to what I was intially looking for.

Wikipedia is the worst culprit. Search for something, and you'll read it, then click on an interesting link, and before you know it you've gone from reading "The history of cotton bobbins" to the "breeding habits of the Lesser Spotted Blue Striped Lavender Weevil"* and then wondering what the heck you where supposed to be looking for.

*I may have made that up ;)

Feel sorry for my friend. He works for very big company in the IT department. On his way in he noticed someone had left their car lights on, so sent an e-mail around the building FAO car number L 337 LOL*. Unfortunately he was clicked the wrong button, and instead of to the people in that building, he sent it to every single employee of the company, on all 50 or so sites in the UK. To make it worse he also had "Request read receipt" checked in OE. So he sent out a couple of thousand emails, and got replies from all of them. Brought the server to a standstill :D

*made up number........ that now I think about it would probably be worth quite a bit :)

Dan : Sarcasm does work, it just that sometimes the language barrier means it needs translating ;)
