Bismillah: Quote:I am a muslim from afghanistan and i have a question i know in islam alcohol is bad becouse i drink i want to know i know i am not hurting anyone and getting in the way of my relgion is it still a sin The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of alcohol, so there is no excuse for a nip or a tot. "O ye who believe! Intoxicants and Gambling, (Dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination of Satan’s handiwork; eschew such(abomination), that ye may prosper."[Al-Qur’an 5:90] also our beloved Prophet said: "Anything which intoxicates in a large quantity, is prohibited even in a small quantity." Salam Wael

Bismillah As Salam alaikum Then why not murder or rape or steal? On the Day of Judgment are YOU going to tell Allah what He will and will not Forgive? It sounds like you know that alcohol is haram but you are going to search until someone tells you that it is okay so you can drink guilt free. Sorry it is a sin. Remember to be patient now and you will be rewarded greatly in the Afterlife. Everytime you feel like drinking, read the Qur'an. Insha'Allah it will strengthen your iman and give you resolve to do what you know is right. As Salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

salam alaykum. alchol itself is okay to consume in small amounts. it can be used in medicine to clean wounds or whatever. But drinking it is forbidden for several important reasons: 1) It's harmful. Since you are not allowed to break a commandment, you are not allowed to harm yourself. Drinking alchol is harmful. It damages the liver, destroys brain cells, whatever. Do some research. 2) By drinking alchol you disobey God's Law in the Qur'an. Thus you are disobeying God. You don't have a proper reason e.g. drinking alchol is needed because the doctor said that is the only thing that can help your health improve (i know that would never happen, but i can't think of another example). 3) By drinking alchol, you might go to pubs. In pubs, flirtation, and so on occurs. You hang out with the wrong crowd. Therefore you become like the crowd gradually. It is very important to hang out with good people. The pub does not have a good crowd. You can make one or two good friends, but too many bad people hang out there. 4) Drunk. Being drunk is very bad because you could do something very regrettable. It is safe for the society for example if you drive while not drunk. Drunk driving kills. Also you could blasmphese, swear, insult Allah, disrespect the Qur'an...you could commit major sins. You might even kill. Be very careful with drunkness. There is also the possibilty of alchol invalidating your wuthu, but i have no idea if it does. You need to check that. All those reasons are examples of why you should stop drinking. Mainly because it is bad for you and disobeying Allah's commands. may God bless you.
