comparison between......
#1

Bismillah:

what do you think of this saying?

<b>"For the foolishness of God </b> is wiser than man's wisdom, and <b>the weakness of God </b> is stronger than man's strength.

this saying is bothering me alot, does it mean..........

that regardless of how <b>smart and fool God and us humans are</b>, our intelligence will never reach even <b>the foolishness of God</b>!!!!!,

OR

<b>God is a fool? </b> ,

OR

<b>God is weak? </b> ,

OR

man is more <b>weaker and foolish than God</b>?

OR

The comparison itself
is <b>very insulting and degrading to God Almighty</b> It is also limiting to Him since our <b>finite and limited intelligence and strength were compared to His infinite Attributes</b>. ??

i go for the last option of course... but what do you all think??? Muslims and Non Muslims.

Wael of course I fully agree with u on the last option, that even if the sayer aimed at stressing the fact that God is incomparable in every aspect. Yet such degrading attributes should never be ascribed to God. Plus certainly in no way a comparison should be made between the creator and his creation. How can we compare between the creator and his creation. No way Astaghferullah.

I agree. At least in the context you provided it...that quote makes no sense.

There are some instances where a comparison between the nature of God of the nature of ourselves is beneficial. For example, Paul tells us that our "good works" are like filthy rags to God.

Yes, I agree. The quotation must be looked at in it's original context, in order to see what the writer intended.

For example, if we look at how the saying is used in 1 Corinthians 1:25, then the expression makes perfect sense.

I agree with you wael,it is foolishness and impolite to make such this comparison,I think that who did this comparison aimed to show the greatness of Allah but he failed in using the suitable words.

Curious Christian

I think that your example is not a comparison between the God nature and our nature. If I understand correctly this is a comparison between what the God gave to us and between what we did,it means that all our good works did`nt worth any thing relative to what the God did for us and this is real.

Thanks for your comments.

Yes reep. I was in fact quoting <b>1 Corinthians 1:25 </b> which am not sure how it does make any sense to you.

But before you jump and start telling me what <b>Paul's "real" intentions were</b>
, I want to tell you that Paul's intentions are not relevant here, even though it is quite obvious that he <b>did INSULT GOD Almighty BY SUCH COMPARISON </b>.

but anyway am not intending to discuss <b>Paul's human-words</b>, but rather <b>GOD Almighty's supposed Divine Revelations!</b>
I don't care what humans say. I care about what is supposed to be GOD Almighty's Holy and Divine Revelations. A N D....

- The verse above is crystal clear that it is Paul's own mouth that uttered such words <b>and not God Almighty's Divine Inspirations!</b>

So again, Paul and his intentions are i<b>rrelevant</b> here. It is the <b>TEXT</b> that is relevant, and whether or not the Bible is corrupt and altered by men.

It is truly strange that the word <b>"fool"</b> is forbidden upon Christians to use it against each others, and yet, <b>Paul used it on the Creator of the Universe Himself!</b>

Am against <b>“choosing the words “</b>and not Paul’s intention. I hope that my message is clear.

Wel_mel_2, I see that you continue to do your unattributed "cut and pastes" from the Answering-Christianity web site.

In case anyone wants to read the entire hate filled rant that Wel_mel_2 has stolen from, you can find it here:

GOD's stupidity is smarter than all of us?!

If anyone expresses an interest in what this bible passage really means, I'll be happy to explain it.

am I not allowed to cut and paste from answerinchrsitianty.com while you are allowed to do the same from answering.islam.org?

Why can’t you just refute the point raised instead of showing off that <b>Heyyyy Wael copy and paste from this site</b>… by they way, I was not going to say this, but <b>I am part of this website</b>, so no harm if I copy and paste something which I strongly see it is right. so am not stolen information reep, <b>watch your mouth please. </b>

Our point is not what the passage means, or what was paul's real intention.. i strongly object using the terms of 'the foolishness of God' and the weakness of God' and any other similar words.

Yes reep. I was in fact quoting <b>1 Corinthians 1:25 </b> which am not sure how it does make any sense to you.

Whew...I know you were trying to bait me.

Luckilly I said,

Quote:I agree. <b>At least in the context</b> you provided it...that quote makes no sense.

I'll go ahead and post the all too important context.

<b>18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: </b>

“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,

And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”[a]

20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

And for you, Wel Mel, to say that the context matter is lunacy. How would you like it if I posted a verse out of the Quran and said, "Don't bother posting the context because the context doesn't matter!"

Pauls starts by saying that the message of the cross is being perceived as foolishness to those that are perishing. He then quotes Isaiah 29:14 which says that God will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring no understanding. Paul then says that God made the foolish wisdom of the world and that those who are called, both Jew and Greek, the wisdom of God is received and they are spared from foolishness.

Before you say,
<i>"Oh, the context doesn't matter. Paul said those words."</i> Maybe you should pause, because I'll start playing by the same rules and scan the Quran for single verses which appear ridiculous and not accept any explanation.

I am also amazed that you copy and paste from AnsweringChristianity. It is very hypocritical. How many times have you critized me for doing the same? Since I knew that it bothered you so much I have excersized restraint in doing so.

To quote my Lord on the matter,

<b>Matthew 7</b>

1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

again you missed my point.. as usual. i did understnad what paul mean, <b>am only against the words that he used.</b>

as I said to reep.. <b>am part of that website so there is no harm to copy and paste some of our works</b>. We are not hypocrites Alhamdulelah, <b>more than 80% of people working in that website are Ex Christians </b> who found the truth. So if you can’t see the truth this is your problem.

Again, <b>am against the words that Paul used to describe his intention which seems to me that this is not inspiration from God Almighty because of course God will surely choose better words to describe this very simple situation.</b>
