If Jesus was a prophet?
#1

What could he have meant by the following?

Luke 22

<b>14 When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve[a] apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” </b>

17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. 21 But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table. 22 And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”

23 Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

According to my Bible's commentary it says:

Quote:In chapter 22 commence the details of the end of our<b> Lord's life</b>

In other words, it says
<b>“commence the details of the end of our God's life
</b> <b>(if you believe that he was God).</b>

Well, I do not believe that he have died,
<b>whether he is a prophet, or even 'god'</b>

I don't know what you believe Jesus to be, but if you believe he is God, then why did he say "<b>My God</b> why have you forsaken me" ?

So then you wouldn't believe that those words are the words of Jesus?

Jesus' desolate cry is a fullment of Ps. 22:1 showing the depth of HIs distress as He suffers seperation from His Father.

If you want to read what I believe about Jesus just read some of the threads on this board.

We've gone full circle with the nature of God as far as the Trinity is concerned and I think Wel Mel and I have agreed to put that topic on hold since we can't reach understanding...which is understanding considering he is Muslim and I am Christian.

ok, what is confusing is that your bible says that Jesus said "My God why have you <b>forsaken me</b>?", that means that Jesus didn't know that God was going to sacrifice him for your sins?

And if he was dying for ur sins why did he say that (why have you <b>forsaken me</b>) ?

And also, if you believe that Jesus is God's son then he is also a god?

or is he human?

or what do u believe he is?

No definitely I don’t. if he is God, <b>God can never die (even for three days), </b> if he is part of God, <b>this part of God too can never die</b>, and if he is a Prophet, he would be protected and saved by the one who sent him.. <b>He will not kill an innocent man for some sinners</b>. This is what I strongly believe. <b>Not because am a Muslim but because it make sense.</b>

What else of what Jesus said in the bible do you not believe he said? Before you've quoted Jesus in an effort to prove your point of view, but if you think that some of what Jesus said in the bible is corrupted then wouldn't you believe that all of what Jesus said is corrupted?

That isn't right. I could post numerous verses which point that Jesus in fact knew that God was going to sacrifice him for sins..

Jesus was fully God and fully man.

i told you before that the Bible may contain the word of God and the words of Jesus pbuh, but it also contains <b>interpolations and fabrications that has nothing to do with God and Jesus pbuh</b>. and that's why the Qur'an was revealed, to make things clear to the people of the Book (Jews and Christians).

So would a Muslim say that the bible is useless? Is there anyway to determine which parts of it are interpolations and fabrications?

You are pulling my leg again into the Bible issue. ;)

I have told you before in my previous posts that there are many parts in the Bible which can never be said or even inspired by God, such absurdities one cannot attribute to God.

I don’t know if you want me to talk in details about this subject. But again you will get emotional.
