Questions about Haddith theology and some science...our favorite topic
#1

Questions arisen out of Hadith "Sahih Al-Bukhari"

Does Mohammed say that a woman isn't as smart as a man?

<b>Mohammed asked some women, "Isn't the witness of a woman equal to half that of a man?" The women said, "yes," He said, "This is because of the deficiency of the woman's mind. " Vol. 3:826</b>

<b>"I have not seen any one more deficient in intelligence and religion than you." Vol. 2:541</b>

The Majority of people in hell are women?

<b>"I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers are women. " Vol. 1:28, 301; Vol. 2:161; Vol. 7:124</b>

Women are harmful to men?

<b>"After me I have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women." Vol. 7:33</b>)OK I agree with that one. :P

Do all prophets have such sexual proweress?

<b>"The prophet used to visit all his wives in an hour round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number." I asked Anas, "Had the prophet the strength for it?" Anas replied, "We used to say that the prophet was given the strength of thirty (men). " Vol. 1:268</b>

What about assurance of salvation? Christians rest assured in their relationship with God because of the work of Christ. It seems that even Mohammed didn't know of his salvation.

<b>"By Allah, though I am the apostle of Allah, yet I do not know what Allah will do to me." Vol. 5:266</b>

God punishes the dead if the their relatives weep?

<b>"The deceased is punished because of the weeping of his relatives." Vol. 2:375</b>

If you speak badly against somebody they will go to hell?

<b>"You praised this, so Paradise has been affirmed to him, and you spoke badly of this, so hell has been affirmed to him. You people are Allah's witnesses on earth." Vol. 2:448</b>

Urine on your clothes will bring damnation?

<b>"The deceased person is being tortured in the grave not for a great thing to avoid, it is for being soiled with his urine. " Vol. 2:460</b>

Holy War Fighting is a one way ticket to Paradise?

<b>"The person who participates in (Holy battles) in Allah's cause and nothing compels him to do so except belief in Allah and His Apostle, will be recompensed by Allah either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to paradise (if he is killed). " Vol. 1:35</b> (So as a side note, did not Mohammed himself fight in a Holy War? Then how come he had no assurance? I guess because he didn't die in battle? Therefore wouldn't it better to die in battle, for all to die in battle rather then win and live and face possible damnation later in life?

Drinking camel urine makes one healthy?

<b>"The prophet ordered them to follow his camels, and drink their milk and urine , so they followed the camels and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy." Vol. 7:590</b>

Huh?

<b>"If a housefly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink), for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease. " Vol. 4:537</b>

I think we can safely say that this is false...

<b>"As for the child, if the man's discharge precedes the woman's discharge, the child attracts the similarity of the man, and if the woman's discharge precedes the man's, then the child attracts the similarity of the woman." Vol. 5:275</b>

Shoe law?

<b>Mohammed said, "If you want to put on your shoes, put on the right shoe first, and if you want them off, take the left one first." Vol. 7:747</b>

Don't breath in your cup!

<b>Mohammed said, "Don't breath into your drinking utensil." Vol. 1:156</b>

We all know what causes an eclipse.

<b>Mohammed said, "The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse because of the death of someone but Allah frightens His devotees with them. " Vol. 2:158</b>

Yawning is from satan?

<b>The prophet said, "Yawning is from Satan and if anyone of you yawns, he should check his yawning as much as possible, for if anyone of yuo (during the act of yawning) should say: "Ha", Satan will laugh at him." Vol. 2:158</b>

Someone's been to Answering Islam or some other similar website. That's neat. You have quoted many parts of hadith. You also have no schooling to understand the circumstances, people, or time at which these hadith were revealed. A little bit of knowledge can be so misleading.

I will discuss a few.

The fly cup. The fly does produce antibodies on a wing. That is why one can see a fly "wiping" itself at times when it is just sitting somewhere. Consider what the fly involves itself in and you will understand why it needs this. If a fly just dips part of itself in your refreshment, then how do we know if the antibodies have been put in it as well as the filth it was just in. we don't so dip the whole thing in it.

The "shoe law"

muslims follow the behavior of the Prophet in every action possible out of love and respect, just as some nonmuslims will wear their favorite basketball players jersey or wear their hair the same was as a famous movie star (eg. that stupid "jennifer aniston" hair cut some years back)

Maybe others will reply about other hadith you have mentioned.

Peace

Insha'Allah will answer your questions or your "adopted" question one by one.

Quote:Yawning is from satan?

<b>The prophet said, "Yawning is from Satan and if anyone of you yawns, he should check his yawning as much as possible, for if anyone of yuo (during the act of yawning) should say: "Ha", Satan will laugh at him." Vol. 2:158</b>

Islam as we explained before is a complete way of life, it does not only deal with all kind of worship but it also deal with manners. it is a beautiful religion, full of wisdom and harmony. If this wonderful religion is followed properly then a typical Muslim would only be a great example to follow.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: "The Prophet never used bad language neither a 'Fahish nor a Mutafahish. He used to say <b>'The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character</b>.' (Sahih Bukhari volume 4, Book 56, Number 759)"

so what did he teach us about Yawning?

When you yawn, you must either keep your lips locked, or cover your mouth with your hand:

The son of Abu Said al-Khudri reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: "When one of you yawns, he should keep his mouth shut with the help of his hand, <b>for it is the devil that enters therein</b>. (Sahih Muslim, The Book <b>Pertaining to Piety and Softening of Hearts </b> (Kitab Al-Zuhd wa Al-Raqa'iq), Book 042, Number 7130)"

The devil here in the Saying of our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is <b>your act of offense to others</b>. Many people would get offended when people yawn without covering their mouths.

i suggest that you make some research on Satan in Islam, because the idea is totally different from what you have been taught in your Bible.

dont you know that Camels could help cure humans?

Quote:Monday, 10 December, 2001, 19:21 GMT
By North Africa correspondent David Bamford

Scientists from the United Arab Emirates have proposed using one of the world's hardiest mammals - the camel - in the campaign to fight and eradicate human diseases.

Camels are free from viruses such as foot and mouth

A team led by Dr Sabah Jassim from the Zayed Complex for Herbal Research and Traditional Medicine has suggested that camels are highly resistant to many deadly viral diseases and their antibodies could be used for new drugs.

Camels have a unique physiology which allows them to thrive in some of the world's harshest environments.

They can survive the perils of desert dehydration by storing water in their bloodstream; they can survive lack of food by holding extra fatty tissue in their humps; their milk stays fresh much longer than that of a cow.

Natural immunity

But as well as these advantages, they have immune systems that are so robust, they remain free from many of the viral diseases that affect other mammals, such as foot-and-mouth and rinderpest.

The antibodies that camels carry inside them are structurally much simpler than those of humans, and Dr Sabah Jassim suggests they would be much simpler to replicate artificially than human antibodies.

Writing in the British Institute of Biology's magazine, The Biologist, Dr Jassim says the small size of camel antibodies would also allow them to penetrate deep into human tissue and cells that would not be otherwise accessible.

He said the camel antibodies, by being transported from the desert sands into the laboratory test tube, have the potential to be a vital weapon against human diseases.

also in one email was sent by an American sister who embraced Islam she said:

Quote:"I just wanted to share the news with you that in products such as tylenol or asparine (not sure which but u can check the labels), there is an ingredient called PREMARIN. Biology majors here tell me that the name stands for PREgnant MARe urIN. Of course, no one would put unprocessed urine into medication... i'm sure it's boiled or pasteurized or something. But the ingredient is used very much in the way the prophet (peace be upon him) suggested using camel urine.. such as for headaches. oh, well, i'm sure to you it sounds disgusting... think of it next time u reach for tylenol or asparine *wink*"

I've read some of those sites and take all what they claim with a grain of salt. If I have a question about something on one of those sites or articles isn't it better that I come here where lies can be dispelled by you or Wel Mel or somebody else?

You are right. I have no schooling to understand the Haddith. That is why I asked.

The topic of Haddiths is interesting. Do Muslims believe that Haddiths are without error and are 100% like the Quran? Are certain Haddiths more accepted than others?

Quote:The topic of Haddiths is interesting. Do Muslims believe that Haddiths are without error and are 100% like the Quran? Are certain Haddiths more accepted than others?

Hadith is the second source of Islam after the Qur'an, there is not a single authentic Hadith that will contradict the Qur'an, both sources will never contradict each other.

and yes the authentic Hadiths are 100% without errors.. that's why they are called Authentic.

The six major hadith collections are, in order of strength:

- Al-Bukhari's Sahih

- Muslim's Sahih

- al-Nasa'i's Sunan

- Abu Dawud's Sunan

- Al-Tirmidhi's Sunan

- Ibn Majah's Sunan

Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi, former President of the Islamic Society of North America states:

Quote:“Generally, in Islamic law, only the authentic (sahih) and good (hasan) hadiths are used in deriving the rules. The weak (da`if) hadiths have no value for the purpose of Shari`ah. However, the scholars of hadith sometimes differ among themselves in the determination of whether some Hadiths are weak or not. The scholars have sometimes used weak hadiths for moral and spiritual (fada'il) matters. It is important that when one uses a weak hadith for any reason, one should explain it to the people that this is weak hadith and that it is being used for this particular reason.

the science of Hadith is very deep and intricate. Therefore, only one who has the necessary qualifications and expertise in Hadith should engage in discussions of them. Scholars of Hadith should verify and check the authenticity of hadiths circulated by laymen and common people in order to explain what is acceptable and what is not.
