Is eating falafel a crime punishable by death,
#1

The Sunni terrorists are making increasingly bizarre demands in Iraq. As the following article shows, they have now declared that it is a crime punishable by death to eat falafel, or to use ice:

Pack up or die, street vendors told

The "logic" they are using is as follows:

(1) there is no record in the Koran of Mohammad eating falafal. Therefore, it is a crime punishable by death to eat it.

(2) there is no record in the Koran of Mohammad using ice. Therefore, it is a crime punishable by death to use ice.

Kind of hard to argue with that logic, isn't it?

Some excerpts from the above article:

Quote:In a bizarre example of Iraq's creeping "Talibanisation", militants visited falafel vendors a fortnight ago, telling them to pack up their stalls by today or be killed. The ultimatum seemed so odd that, at first, most laughed it off - until two of them were shot dead as they plied their trade.
"They came telling us, 'You have 14 days to end this job' and I asked them what was the problem," said Abu Zeinab, 32, who was packing up his stall for good yesterday in the suburb of al Dora, a hardline Sunni neighbourhood.

"I said I was just feeding the people, but they said there were no falafels in Mohammed the prophet's time, so we shouldn't have them either. I felt like telling them there were no Kalashnikovs in Mohammed's time either, but I wanted to keep my life."

Quote:Another group of traders to have felt the Islamists' unexpected wrath is Baghdad's ice merchants, who sell large chunks of ice for storing food and chilling drinks. In a city facing constant power cuts and summer temperatures of up to 50C (122F), the service they provide is little short of essential.
Yet in recent weeks, they too have fallen foul of the claim that their product was not a feature of life during Mohammed's time.

Akram al Zidawi, 19, an ice seller from al Dora, thought the threats were too ludicrous to be true - until it was too late. "Two weeks ago he came back home saying that he had been threatened by the terrorists," said his brother Gassan, 32.

"My mother begged him to quit the job, but he laughed, he thought it was impossible they would kill him. But they came back two days later and shot him dead, along with three other ice sellers nearby."

This article is nothing but lies. Now Iraq is controlled by American and British, and so their media LOVE to promote lies against Muslims.

Anyway, even If this is true, Islam has nothing to do with such people who invent a lie against Islam.

Do you have any evidence supporting your claim? Why is this report "nothing but lies"?

Middle Eastern newspapers have reported this story, too. For example, here is a link to an article in the Egyptian newspaper "The Middle East Times":

Banning Baghdad falafel

Why would a Middle Eastern paper pick up this story, if the story were false?

You just proved to me that you are such a picky guy. I also said in my post that even If this is true, Islam has nothing to do with such people who invent a lie against Islam.

The Qur'an clearly states:

Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah." [Al-Qur’an 5:3]

Now you tell me what Falafel has to do with dead meat, blood, and flesh of swine?

From article: "I said I was just feeding the people, but they said there were no falafels in Mohammed the prophet's time, so we shouldn't have them either. I felt like telling them there were no Kalashnikovs in Mohammed's time either, but I wanted to keep my life."

As any person with a desire to truly understand can see, these people are not trying to uphold Islam in any fashion. they are just bullies and opressors, plain and simple. Muslims killing muslims is a sin also. Where they are getting the "authority" from Islam to kill people for falafel or ice is beyond me. Even a muslim who eats pork openly is not executed. There is nothing that i have ever seen in shariah that condones this. These people are just (edit) who want to feel big and strong. Weak bullies. Allah hates oppressors. this is oppression, clearly. Why is this not obvious to some of our nonmuslim guests? Why is it so hard to understand when evidence is so clear that they are people who use anything, including religion, to gain power.

O really this makes me smile, I should be killed then. I just had falafel this morning......

it reminds me of a situation that occured in Saudi Arabia long time ago.

I dont exactly recall which kind was ruling at that time. But the group who is in charge of enforcing religious decsipline in Saudi Arabia came to the kind in order to express their disapproval of building toilettes in haj camping areas under the pretext that such type of toilettes was not present at the prophet's time. The king discussed with them. Then at the end of their meeting, upon their departure, they went out to find that their latest model cars, which they drove in, are not there. They inquired and the king replied that the Prophet prayer and peace be upon him never rode a car but rather a camel. The point was clearly made.

Some people go so far in regard to being concerned about the innovation aspect in Islam that they become innovative in refusing to cope with the modern time.

While Quran also cleary states that:

"O humankind! Eat of that which is lawful and good on the earth, and follow not the footsteps of Shaytan (Satan). Verily, he is to you an open enemy." (Quran 2; 168)

And"O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with, and be grateful to Allah, if it is indeed He Whom you worship.

" (Quran 2:172)

Now those two Ayahs form the basic rules for what is lawful for us to eat. If u notice, they are general, Allah Not Say u may eat french pastry if it is not baked with liqure. But if i apply the Ayah, I can easily eat french pastry when they are not baked with liqure. I can also eat balck forest provided it does not contain alcohol. See reepi, this is the miracle of Quran. Concise but actually contains every thing.

If u know what i mean. If u still have problems u r most welcome for further explanation
