An Internet poll sponsored by NewsMax.com reveals that Americans are overwhelmingly in favor of the United States undertaking military action to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Nearly 60,000 people have taken part in the poll so far, and more than nine out of 10 say U.S. efforts to contain Iran’s weapons program are not working.
A large majority of respondents also believe that Iran poses a greater threat than Saddam Hussein did before the Iraq War.
NewsMax will provide the results of this poll to major media and share them with radio talk-show hosts across the country.
Here are the poll questions and results:
1) Do you believe U.S. efforts to contain Iran’s nuclear weapons program are working?
Working: 7 percent
Not Working: 93 percent
2) Should the United States rely solely on the U.N. to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program?
Yes: 11 percent
No: 89 percent
3) Do you believe Iran poses a greater threat than Saddam Hussein did before the Iraq War?
Yes: 88 percent
No: 12 percent
4) Should the U.S. undertake military action against Iran to stop their program?
Yes: 77 percent
No: 23 percent
5) Who should undertake military action against Iran first?
U.S.: 45 percent
Israel: 35 percent
Neither: 20 percent

Curious, I always perceived Americans separate from the US policy, I mean I dont like to adopt an attitude incriminating people due to goverment actions. Just as I like others to do towards Egypt for example.
But your comment really raises much question. I mean what has got the American people to do with Israel. If Muslims have to fight, and they will fight one day Israel and Insh aAllah will win the battle. BTW they know this I mean the jews. Why would the US want to intervene. In case for instance North Korea decided to sweep japan, would the US still threaten to use nuclear weapons on them/ would the american people still want this to happen?

Well as for why the Muslim Ummah is subjected to this, actually the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam did warn us against this and foretold us already. if u think about it, what is happening around the Muslim Ummah is not but a proof that the Messenger is the final Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam;
Narrated Abdullah Ibn Omar that the Messenger salla Allah a`alyhee wa sallam came to us saying O people of Muhajereen (immigrants) there are five issues if you will be inflicted with them and I seek refuge to Allah that you would not be available when they occur, never fornication would spread among people till they commit it publicly except that plague and other unprecedented diseases which was never experienced before among their predecessors would spread and prevail, food deficiency and unjust rulers, never people refrain from paying Zakat for their money except that they would be denied rain from sky and if it was not for animals they would have never received rain, never people violate the covenant of Allah and His Messenger except that Allah Sends on them an enemy from outside to take part of what is in their hands, and when their rulers don’t rule with the book of Allah and start selecting from what Allah revealed except that Allah instills their torture among them.” (reported by Ibn Majeh)

What I meant was...The US defends it's allies. We defended Kuwait when Sadaam invaded Kuwait...we defended France, Poland, England when the Nazi's invaded them in World War 2. Israel is an ally.
IF the US public sees Iran's insane ruler saying that he wants to destroy Israel it doesn't do much for public opinion. It would be the same if Iran's leader wanted to destroy any other ally country of ours.
If North Korea wanted to destroy Japan you BET that the US would fight for them too. We're good friends to have.

come on, u seem more logical than this. you know very well that the US didnt fight with kuwait because of this ally issue. I was in the US at that time and watching CNN. Lary King was able to take a committment out of the Kuwaiti ambassador at the time that his country will certainly pay the bill. The question was will you pay the bill if we intervene? he said yes certainly.
The US didnt go there for free or just to support an ally, but rather to sell more weapones, receive the bill and establish a base.
As for Israel they will not only fight for free but also support it financially and in kind. Much difference. but thank u for helping me change my perception regarding the US public. :)

I honestly don't know why my country makes the decisions it makes. Who is to say what was behind the issues concerning the first gulf war. Maybe establishing a base in the middle east played a role...I don't know. Regardless of the reasons we stopped the bad guy from conquering Kuwait...a Muslim nation...no need to thank us.
This whole thread is about a poll Ferris Mee quoted.
The "leader" in Iran is not for peace. We hear the sound bites and read what he says regarding Israel, the holocaust, non-muslims etc. I, as an American, believe that our public support of military action against Iran is driven by the mad man who runs that country. If it was the case that America wanted to attack any Muslim country than run the same poll about Egypt, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia etc....you would see that nobody would support any kind of action against those countries...because they don't have a leader who sounds like a terrorist.
Would I support military action against Iran??? No. BUT, if Iran attacked any of our allies or started shooting of Nuclear weapons in the ocean then I'd maybe change my mind. Iran is ultimatley responsible for what happens to Iran.
