salam all Ramdhan Mubarak to everyone My first fast is tomarrow here in London however some people started there first fast today.

Bismilah, Most people in Australia have started there fast today the 5th. I think half of australia was confused when to start. As half of us started on the 4th & the other half on the 5th. But I am afraid my fast today is not validated. I blow my nose this morning and there was a little bit of blood. I thought nothing of it cause my nose wasn't gushing with blood. Then, when i got to work. My nose started to bleed. I am so upset cause I wanted to fast so badly. ''Question : I want to ask about the amount of blood coming from the body of a person which invalidates the fast...'' If it is done during the day then to be on the safe side that day should be made up, because this is akin to cupping.” </b> (Fatwa of Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him), from Fataawa Islamiyyah, vol. 2, p. 139) Sickness is of various kinds: 1 – That which does not affect the fast, such as a light cold or mild headache or toothache, and the like. In this case it is not permissible to break the fast, even though some of the scholars permitted that because of the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “and whoever is ill…”[al-Baqarah 2:185] But we say that this ruling is based on a reason, which is that not fasting is easier. If that is the case, then we would say that not fasting is better, but if fasting does not have an effect on him then it is not permissible to break the fast, and he has to fast. 2 – If fasting is difficult for the sick person, but it does not harm him, then it is makrooh for him to fast and it is Sunnah for him to break his fast. 3 – If fasting is difficult for him and will cause him harm, such as a man who has kidney disease or diabetes and similar cases where fasting will cause harm. In this case fasting is haraam. Hence we may see that some mujtahids and sick people make a mistake when fasting is difficult for them and may harm them, but they refuse to break their fast. We say that they are mistaken because they refuse to accept the kindness of Allaah and the concession that He has given to them, and they are harming themselves, although Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And do not kill yourselves”[al-Nisa’ 4:29] al-Sharh al-Mumti’ by Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, vol. 6, 352-254. Bismilah, Uh oh, I broke my fast yesterday, I didn't relise. But I was feeling weird yesterday, kind of week. Doesn't matter I just need to make up this fast. Wasalam Alliex

Bismillah Assalamu alaikum Latifa As I understand it TAKING out blood deliberately, I think cupping is mentionend in the first fatwa and testing blood is mentioned in this other fatwa, are in the same 'group'. If you cannot do this test during the night, when you do not fast, and are so sick that you cannot be without taking them during daytime, then you should not fast at all. Then you are sick, and you should not fast. But bleeding from the nose is not something you PLAN to do, or if you fall and injure yourself so you will bleed, that is neither someting you plan to do, so then you do not do it deliberately and therefore your fast is valid. Assalamualaikum alliex which part of the world r u from ? it seems that u r still on a learning curb , r u finding it hard to gain access to islamic knowledge in ur area ..... or is it coz u may still b young ? or a recent convert ? if u need ne help with local islamic institutions or masjids in ur area then tell me ...... i have access to a very very large muslim owned world wide islamic database with even names of scholars and many muslims etc...etc... |
