Within this thread, Muslim posters have claimed that Muslim women who live in Canada have fewer rights and freedoms than Muslim women who live in Islamic countries.
I live in Canada, and believe this claim to be false. But if any Muslim here presents evidence proving their claim, I am prepared to admit that I am wrong. But before I can admit I am wrong, I need some of you to post concrete examples of how Canadian law oppresses Canadian Muslim women.
So again I ask: please provide me with a list of "freedoms" that a Muslimah in Saudi Arabia (or any other Islamic country) has, but that a Canadian Muslimah doesn't have.
If posters on this this forum are unable to provide me with such a list, then I think this argument is over, and you have failed to prove your point.

Most choose to define freedom as "do whatever one wants." This sounds like enslavement to one's own whims and desires.
We have really only two choices. Be slaves to created things or be slaves to the One who Creates.

reepi u obviously totally missed the idea which sparked this thread.
Thus I edited the thread title.
We were not discussing status of Muslim women living in the West and in Muslim world.
But rather Muslim and non Muslim women living in the West.
Now that has been cleared.
I m not sure why the tone of challenge John, what do u mean we must do better. do better in terms of what and to whose standards.
I think u go for long elaborate posts just to make an impression.
Now I think Suhail and Dan gave u a reply.
Just in case u missed it, Dan confirmed my idea which is the definition of freedom just as u noted that:
It is obvious that member muslimah does not understand the meaning of the word freedom but has her own, narrow interpretation of its meaning.

Now that Dan gave u the definition any Muslim applies, I think this must be done.
We are free because we only abide by what Allah Commanded us, we are free because we are not enslaved to manmade standards regarding this or that.
We are free because we are not to strive to fit into the society thru its own criteria that differ from one place to another and from one community to another.
Is this enough?
So again briefly we are free because we only submit to Allah.

OK, let's get down to specific examples.
There is a muslim boy named Noor who is in my daughter's grade 1 class. You are claiming that, under Canadian law, Noor's mom has freedoms which are denied to my wife. i.e., that under Canadian law, Muslim women have special rights and freedoms that are denied to non-Muslim women.
I believe you are wrong. All people are equal under Canadian law. Why do you claim that, in Canada, Muslim women receive preferential treatment? Can you give us examples of what this preferential treatment is?

I agree with John, and also believe that Western non-Muslim women are free.
It appears no posters disagree with us, correct? I guess this discussion is over, then.

Suhail u r so funny, he seemed not to be grasping the point at all, sobhan Allah. BUt at least he is supporting JOhn even if he is not seeing the original point of the thread.
and John u settled the whole issue, we see that Muslim woman who protects her chastity, has sex only thru marriage, covers up in public, obeys her husband, raises Muslim children, mixes with men within the Islamic limits when she has to, ..what else O her testimony is half of the man's, accepts it when her husband goes into polygyny or even marries as a second wife is by far more free than the Western non Muslim woman who any man can look at her body at any time, sleeps around, walks almost half naked during summer because it is hot, looks at career as a source of dignity, obssessed with man made body figure and striving to loose weight all the time to fit the perfect image.
Alhamdulelah for being a Muslim woman who enjoys freedom granted by Allah not man.

Muslimah: are you saying that every single non-Muslim woman in Canada without exception "sleeps around", and that every single Muslim woman in Canada without exception does not "sleep around"?
